  1. You will find out the morning of docking. Most of the time, Suttle runs every 30 minutes and stops 30 minutes before ship leaving

  2. A couple more ways:

    1)     If it’s the Wind or Cloud, there are lots of spare boots under the seats in the changing room. Just lift the boxes lids and try some on.

    2)     You can source some small, thick plastic bags and put them on if they won’t let you get off the bow on the zodiac boat. I found some thick plastic bags that just fit my hiking boots and gave a couple of dozen to the crew when I left.

Just completed a few weeks ago, 10 wet landings and was able to get all the way to the front bow and land on dry land on seven landings. Only used bags twice.

I've always just received text messages fine using the ship's WiFi; I put the phone in airplane mode first to prevent it from connecting to the onboard cellular network first. Is there another way to do it?

Its a little complicated due to different carries. Most texting is passed on from the cellular side and when traveling, most people will turn off roaming, cutting off the cell connection. If, lets say someone has T-Mobile that includes international travel, they will still receive texting. If someone or most carriers when at sea for day after day will lose connection and get no texting. Forcing or replying to a text will connect to the ships cell connection or connect to the closest land base, causing a roaming fee.  It is possible while at sea to trick the phone by temporally turning off airplane mode and turning on WIFI calling. this will usually make the phone think it is in connection to a cell tower and download all your texts and you can send texts during that time also. Of course an app like whatsapp will always work because it relays on WIFI only but the other person must have whatsapp also.

  4. You have three ways to call.

First - is in your room, you can call directly to the US and it will be on your shipboard account. The cost has come down a lot over the years and check with reception on that ships current cost per minuet.

Second - is to use standard ships WIFI and you will need to be competent in how to set up your cell phone to use WIFI calling. NOTE ( If in bad areas you will need to upgrade to Premium WIFI Plan to eliminate dropped calls)

Third -  is to upgrade the premium WIFI and use video calling on Facebook, apple or Skype.

Also its best to let people and customers know to not Text you. Texting onboard is a lot more complicated and deserves its own thread.

    carefreecruise,

    thanks for helping!

We do have a specific future cruise booked (Dawn in Sept 2024). Where do I find in writing that I can transfer the voyage up to two years?

Can you please explain how a floating onboard booking works, as I never heard of that one?

An "Open Booking" (floating booking) will be one page sheet and cost $1,000 per person. It will list at the bottom, that it is only good for 6 months, for you to identify a cruise and apply it.

A "Voyage Confirmation" is a specific voyage and it appears that is what you got. You will only have up to 151 days prior to your Dawn voyage to transfer your voyage to a different date or itinerary. If you make a voyage change, your 5% discount will be applied to the new voyage price.

On Dawn last month, if you had booked and paid for door-to-door, transfers to the airport were included.  If flights were after a certain time of the afternoon, that transfer included a half day tour on the way to the airport.  No extra charge.  (I was not door2door, so I paid for the transfer at the shore excursions desk.)

I am going to visit shore excursions here on Muse to check the current arrangements.

Correct, the question was "should it be included in the cruise as a free excursion" the answer is still NO. Airport transfers and tours are if you booked with Silverair as part of your Door-toDoor. Ones who arrange their own flights are on their own after the cruise is over. Unless a post hotel is included in the cruise.

  7. During an emergency, you are taken to the closest public or private (If your paying cash) hospital that can take care of your injury. Once there you are evaluated and repaired. If that hospital is unable to fix you, you are sent to the next closest one. If non in the area are capable of repairs, then and only then will Medjet be dispatched. You do not have control of when Medjet will be dispatched. Also bring enough money to pay the hospital or Medjet can not take you home. You will be reimbursed my your travel or home insurance once you get home. Only telling you what actually happened on two occasions.

  8. the prices are cheep for a reason. When things go wrong and you end up in a remote hospital you will not be calling the shoots and getting your loved one home. It will only happen if the treating doctor has determined they can not receive proper treatment at their location. After that they will check with their staff to determined if you would receive better treatment at your home hospital. This could take many days before they get to point of suggesting you get airlifted home. Most likely it will only be a commercial airline with a nurse accompanying you home.

  9. A lot of cruisers are worn out on the same old port stops. Silversea is trying to find new places to visit. It's not an easy job, due to lots of moving parts. So if the itinerary is not right for you, then don't go. Wait till you find an itinerary you like. Also if you don't like the airline they contract with, then use your own airline. So it doesn't sound like it's all the vendors falt...

  10. This is asked a lot. It depends. Some ports allow guests to enter their boarding area any time and others only open at 2PM. Before COVID it was definitely different. So don't do what we did an show up early, only to find out we needed to wait in the parking lot till they opened at 2PM. I'm sure others will tell you they boarded early and so did we on the last two cruises. Just be aware not all ports allow early boarding...
