  1. We were in the hotel your asking about. We had our travel agent upgrade our room to view the ruins and a Jr suite. We paid the upgrade and used Silversea $200 allowance. When we arrived we checked in with Silversea and it was just normal checkin. When we checked out I paid the upgraded charge.

  2. Only exception in terms and conditions till end of September is if you show you have Covid and can not travel to the ship. You will receive a FCC. Other than that, refer to your cancelation policy in Silver Sea terms and condition.

We don't live as far away as you but we have decided to do our own first class air because SS not offering it.  All the flights get in at an ungodly hour.  We booked 2 nights at the hotel through SS  - paying for the extra night.  As long as book the hotel through them you will get picked up at the airport.

Only thing I would double check is getting picked up at the airport when you don't use Silversky. If you use the Silversea hotel you will get a bus ride from the hotel to the ship and a bus ride from the ship to the hotel if one is provided post cruise.

  4. 2PM is the normal time. Some ports don't let anyone in before 2PM. Some ports don't have restrictions. Silversea is adjusting boarding in some ports by leaving the hotel at noon, taking the first load of guests to the ship early. So it just depends on where you board and you won't know if going to board early unless your staying at a Silversea pre hotel

This has been my exact experience: when the option wasn't used I received the full $1000 refund.

I suspect the Future Cruise Consultants prefer to book an actual cruise even if it's far off and will be changed (perhaps it's a question of commission/recognition).

Open bookings are not the way to go. You only have 6 months to use them and can't be used on voyages with promotions or discounts. Much better way is to find a low cost voyage and use it as an open booking. You then have 2 years to move it and take full advantage of promotional voyages offered.

You could start a thread discussing the correct wrench size for the head bolts on a Volkswagen Beetle and it would still end up as a dress code thread.

Correct: it would start out as proper gasket dressing and move quickly into variants of types of dressing, to use on each engine model and where you live...

Then into what kind of dress overalls to wear while your applying the dressing.

I asked about dress code in La Terrazza for formal nights and the Maitre'd said they are one below on the dress code so if its formal then La Terrazza is informal and if its Informal then La Terrazza is casual.  This was on the Moon last summer.

This is correct now. Most ships in the fleet are now conforming too.

There is no more to the story. I’m not clear what information you think is incorrect.

Just walked over to the cruise consultants desk aboard a Silversea ship and he said no problem using AMX card to book onboad future cruises. Even ones new World Cruises.

  9. it depends.

If an expedition ship, there will be a briefing the night before to cover what your going to see the next day. Also the expedition staff are full of knowledge and when walking around the ship, they will spot birds and tell you all about them. Some will be out at night and explain the night sky to you.

If a standard cruise, the theater will be used on sea days to provide you with history and suggest places you should visit when the ship docks. Also will provide where to go if your in to shopping.

  10. Menus change I think every 10 days. So looking at menus now will not help you. Thing to do is make reservations for early and late in your cruise. Once you get onboard look at the menus and cancel or change your reservations as you see fit.

    Go and have fun first...

Does anyone know where SS docks in Tokyo? Trying to plan transport to our hotel

Just Fyi: no one would know for sure. The local Harbor Master asigns the dock sometimes up to a couple of hours before the ship gets its local pilot aboard.
