Glad to have read the measurements of the ship's pools..for depth. Does anyone know the lengths?
Wife and I are swimmers and like to have at least a 20 meter length pool. Otherwise I've named the pools, "Push off and bump your head" pools!

yes they do.

We'd prefer to have a private vehicle to drive us from the Rome airport (FCO) to our lodging in Rome.
Can anyone recommend a good company?
Thanks

That size is a VERY large suitcase, since luggage sizes are measured diagonally (like TVs and computer monitors). A medium-sized suitcase is 24-26", a large one is 28-30". Avalon cares a bit about the weight (because their staff will bring the luggage on to the ship and off), but not really about dimensions. However, it does need to fit under your bed, so watch the depth measurement.
I have never travelled with anything larger than a 26" suitcase, I have never had a problem fitting everything in (even when I was on cycling trips and needed cycling gear in addition to regular touring gear). The biggest hassle is shoes; keep the number to a minimum and you will manage. In my experience, don't try to go for an outfit per day; bring clothing that you can mix and match; it goes farther. I have also been able to manage all my own luggage, a purse on my shoulder under a backpack and that medium sized rolling suitcase.
Great advice Gnome12! I hope that we can fill our smaller suitcases...we'll try😊
The challenge that is added on to the river cruise is 2 weeks before the cruise; a week in Paris and another in Dordogne River Valley.

If you can check it on an airplane, it should be good for the ship. Remember that boarding a river cruiser is not as user-friendly as an airport when it comes to lugging bags. Check the fine print of your cruise on Avalon's website for specifics.
Checking the fine print is why I'm asking the question. And, since I've never boarded a river cruise boat I don't know the difference between it and an airplane.
Unfortunately I am still asking for the dimension limitation for luggage.
Please.

As a first timer sailing on a river cruise..and Avalon..we would like to know how much luggage we can carry. What is the largest size (L x W x H) that we can carry?
Thanks

Before our travel to France this May I have been tracking what is required for travel because of the viruses. Here's what I've recently found:
According to the CDC before leaving France for the USA, We are...“REQUIRED - Before boarding a flight to the United States, you are required to show the following: * a negative COVID-19 test result taken no more than 1 day before travel.”
Is anyone up to date on whether Avalon makes arrangements for us to take the test at the end of our cruise? (Hopefully they have made or will make arrangements!) If not, I plan on contacting my travel agent and to find out what’s happening.

who would have moved? The hacker or Avalon?

Kenster,
Thanks for your VERY prompt reply with a good explanation. Today is (was) the day we can book excursions and, of course, not available.

Has anyone had difficulty getting in to your Avalon account today? It seems that they are having difficulty. Here is what they show on the opening page: "We are experiencing systems issues that are affecting the phone line, booking systems and certain Web sites. We are aware and working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. "
I have not even been able to call them. With our upcoming cruise with Avalon I'm getting concerned that their problems are something other than a "system problem".

For those of you who have Avalon experience I have a question for you.
We have booked a 15 day cruise in France with a 2 night stay in Provence and 2 in Nice after the cruise is finished. Our flight home is after the 4-day stay.
Since we’ve booked this through Avalon will they provide a transfer from the hotel to the airport?
Thank you in advance.

Flossie009,
Thank you for a quick reply! It was what I hope for and expected. I assume there are a number of passengers these days who bring their computers and would like to have somewhere to store them. A 9" x 12" MacBook fits nicely.
Quick question 009: Do you like your vodka shaken not stirred?

In looking at the FAQs for Regent's Seven Seas Splendor I found the listed dimensions for the cabin's safe. The size is a bit small:
7 inches high, 14 inches wide and 4 inches deep.
The depth is VERY short!!
Can anyone confirm this??
Thanks.

If you have booked a Concierge suite or above, the one night hotel stay, breakfast & bus transport to the ship is included.
Alternatively you could take a credit on the hotel & make your own arrangements. Many find this preferable but be aware that the drive from Rome to the port is over an hour so a private transfer will not be cheap.
Hope you enjoy your first Regent cruise.
Thanks, flossie009, you've given me reassurance!

We are optimistic about our cruise next November – our first Regent cruise. Maybe CDC will straighten out what they want us to do for cruising by then.
Two questions for those experienced: We will be flying into Italy two weeks before the cruise and finish up our self-tour of northern Italy in Rome the day before embarkation.
(A night’s stay before embarkation is in the package of the cruise). We will need to travel from Rome to Civitavecchia.
Question 1: since we are not using Regent’s flight, will they still accommodate our one-night stay at the hotel in Rome?
Question 2: Will the cruise provide transportation to the port?
Thank you

Like ours, I presume your cruise was cancelled. But I can never resist the opportunity to tell fellow travelers about connection times. Three hours internationally. Four is better. There's nothing I dislike more than fretting about making a flight. When you're there early, you have lots of time to deal with anything that comes up (I could make a list) without stress. Airports are nice places now, lots of see and do, good walkies. Two hours for a domestic departure, three hours for international.
I agree with your connection times...to a degree.
About this flight (arrive in LHR at 12 & next flight depart 90 minutes later) I spoke to the BA rep and she said that looking at my fights one is practically the next gate over and 90 minutes is a cinch. Also, we live outside of Charleston SC. If we get to the check-in counter 60 minutes before the flight boards we will usually have 30 minutes to sit near the gate.
As for Heathrow, if we had to change terminals I certainly like to have 3-4 hours between flights.
And yes, the cruise was cancelled. It looks like this year's cruises in May will be cancelled too. As of February 1 Avalon canceled cruises up to April 30. So we will wait another year to enjoy Bon Repas!

I have tried to log in to my account on two different search engines to no avail. Is anyone else having the same difficulty?

Thanks Dave for the quick reply. Let me make sure I've got this correct....The cruise starts on, say, December 1st. I can use the Regent air 270 days before (somewhere around April)?
If I've read the policy correctly I would have to have paid in full for the cruise to be able to do that.

I expected the measurements. Swimming laps will have to wait to return to US.
