Well, B&H has a great selection of Sony Cyber-Shot point & shoot cameras; I'm a BIG Sony fan😀. Easy to hold and use. I had one of these before graduating to a DSLR camera.
-
Good tips; will start looking at the Nikons...and B&H sounds like a great place to start. Thanks!
I've dealt with B&H for, probably ten years, for audio, computer and cameras. I've always gotten good service from them and have never been disappointed with anything I've gotten from them.
-
You might want to check out B&H Photo Video's used department for really good prices. These cameras are just a couple years old, very gently used, generally by people moving up to a more recent model. I've purchased a couple cameras from them and have been extremely satisfied. My last purchase from them is a Sony Alpha DSLR, and am about ready to buy a newer (still used) one.

I, also, am in the scaremongering camp. I am comfortable enough with my bank or credit card company to protect my interests. On occasion I get an email from my cc company wanting my verification of some purchases made that weren't among those businesses that I usually do business with.

I agree with previous posters, if 10-days is all you can do, re: time, $, or what/why ever, then that's all you can do. It's certainly going to be WAY BETTER than not doing it at all.😎

It appears that I can make reservations in my name since we always get on very early & then cancel & give my spot a friend.
Assuming there are 12 people "booked", if you cancel, then your spot would go to the first person on the waiting list.

I'm another cruiser that doesn't put my iPad in the safe. I leave it as well as my laptop out on the desk hooked up to the charger.

When he is about 25 and has graduated from college; or I should say after you've paid his tuition for the 4-5 years he's in college.🙄

I read in an article earlier today that the ship stayed there overnight and were moved to another berth. At that point a determination had not been made if they were going to have to charter planes to get the passengers back to the disembarkation point, however, this seems to indicate that they were cleared to continue on: http://www.cruisecritic.com/news/news.cfm?ID=7062 . Estimates on the damage to the dock were in the $2 - $3 million range.
If it was just a few $million in damage, then there must not have been much damage done.

Thank you for the explanation. I had heard of it, but just never knew what is was. :):):)
I don't know if this happens frequently or it was just one of those things..., but when we had finished dinner and we're just sitting around having a cup of coffee, the maitre'd asked if we (the group) would like to have dinner together the following night. We would order individually from the menu, and would pay for the bottles of wine, but we would have a table to ourselves, like that night. We all said YES!, as it appeared everyone enjoyed each other's company and no one monopolized any of the conversations. Though the table is oblong whatever was being discussed at one end of the table, the people made sure that those of us at the other end was included in the discussion/conversation. That is, if we were interested; and we generally were.

Holy crap
That too, or as well!

I am fairly new to cruising so forgive me for asking ...What is a/the Chef Table? :D
The Chef's Table is a multi-course dinner with appropriately paired wines. It begins with champagne and canapés in the galley, then you are led to your table out in the dining room. It's a 5-course meal that takes about two hours. For those lucky to be selected, they only take a max of 12 people, it's recommended that they eat lightly for breakfast and lunch. There is some discussion whether they will accommodate anyone with a food allergy, such as seafood. It ends with a group photo with maitre'd, head chef and usually pastry chef, ladies receive a long stemmed rose, and everyone (or a couple) receives a copy of Princess' hard-bound cook book, Courses. Personally I think it is worth $95/person, or $80/person for someone that doesn't drink, or doesn't drink wine.

Holy s@&t!😱
-
Steve, I got the impression that any food allergy wasn't going to be accommodated. I thought the initial screening, via the phone call, then with the meeting it was reinforced.
-
Just carry it in your hand. I have a kindle and it is not that big. It makes me laugh at what folks worry about sometimes on here.
I also just carry my iPad in my hand. The only time I don't have it "in hand" is when I'm going out on an excursion.
-
One of my Starbucks tumblers always gets packed.
-
When I did the Table I was asked, when I first called the DINE line, if I had any food allergies. Then when the group met for the pre-dinner meeting with the maitre'd, he brought up the allergy question. So in my instance he/they were not going to accommodate any allergy.

My "go to" hotel is the Marriott Renaissance on 17th St. It's close to restaurants and reasonable walking distance to shopping. It's right across the street from a Wallgreens plus one of the entrances to the pier area is across the street as well. The principal entrance is a quick cab ride away. The fare from the airport is only about $15 and from the hotel to the pier, you're looking at around $10. Actually any of the hotels on 17th will be good for you.

And here I was thinking by adamant, you meant you were required to accept and consume the pour!
Well there was that requirement as well.🙃
-
I'm another one that felt the wine pours to be quite adamant. Unlike Steve I didn't have to say no mas, but that was only because by the time I finished a second glass of wine, they were bringing out the next course, and it's attendant pairing of wine, and of course the oh so appropriate stemware. Me, I would have been fine with a jelly-jar glass.😎
That should have been adequate, not adamant. That's what I get when I don't proof my posts adequately 🤓

Should have been 16 years per death + a certain number of years per each injured pax.
I guess when he gets out, he'll apply for a job with NCL 😱.

Thank you everyone for your comments we have never done one and have decided to try it this time. I think we should try at least once...
Andrea
Something additionally to keep in mind. The earlier you can manage to board (and call the DINE line) increases your chance of "making the cut". The one time I was included I was in my cabin and on the phone, by noon.

I loved the experience! It has been posted that you not eat the day of the Table due to the amount of food. NOT!! I would recommend that you eat lightly at breakfast and lunch. I don't know anyone that can go all day long and not eat with the anticipation of having a big meal that evening.
In addition to the delicious meal, you will have a group photo, along with the head chef, maitre'd, pastry chef, taken by one of the ship's photog. Plus a copy of Princess' hard bound cook book, Courses. The photos will be processed and printed quickly enough so they are given out while the group is having dessert. You will also get a copy of the evening's menu, printed on parchment. I have my menu framed and hanging next to my photo of the group.
What electronics do you bring?

I'm pretty much in the mainstream with "gadgets". MacBookPro laptop, to Photoshop the days pix, iPad, iPhone (I obviously do my job to keep Apple solvent), and my Sony DSLR camera. I realize the camera in my phone is a decent enough camera, but that's ok for immediate surroundings, but that's it.
