  1. I haven't seen smaller, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

The subset was page one in the martini bar menu. I assume you could get them elsewhere, but never tried. They were all "standard" ingredients, as opposed to stuff you can only get at the martini bar. Just like the pool bar has frozen drink makers and the molecular bar has liquid nitrogen, the martini bar has special and unique ingredients. None of the classic package martinis had anything you couldn't get at other bars.

Are u able to get French Martini's, Appletinis etc in smaller measures on the classic package? Sorry for all the questions but it is a wee bit confusing.

  2. Except for the two exceptions already listed (martini bar and molecular bar) you can get most any drink, as long as you aren't too picky about the alcohol it is made with. The covered brands are considered "good" by most, just not "top shelf"

Try the package a day or two, if it works for you great, if it doesn't upgrade THEN.

My sister in law and I are travelling together and not sure until I speak to her if she would wish to upgrade from classic to premium however I think I shall as I enjoyed the different Martini cocktails and champagne with the drinks package I had on the ROTS. Are u able to get other alcoholic drinks at the Martini And Molecular Bars or do they just serve Martini?

  3. At the Martini Bar on the Silhouette, we had no problem getting a martini on the classic package. It was smaller than their regular one but you could order a second.

Thank you, it is the Celebrity Silhouette we are sailing on. Can I just ask about normal cocktails also.(not just Martini ones) Would they be covered in the classic package? Just wondered what the average price is. Thank you again.

  4. Hi, can anyone tell me what the prices of the martini cocktails are on board as we have the Classic drink package on our forthcoming cruise around the Med in June. I was on the Radiance of the Seas last Nov and had the Premium one which included champagne and most cocktails, and wondered what the prices are of cocktails on Celebration.

  5. I will be staying at the Pan Pacific Hotel for 2 nights 7th and 8th Nov before boarding ROTS on the 9th. I am flying from Glasgow via Dubai and will not arrive until around 6pm on the 7th so will not be venturing very far that night. I would however love some info on restaurants for my evening meal on the 8th. As I am travelling solo I do not want to be wandering to far from my hotel at night. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  6. I hope u enjoy and decide to try going solo. I am both excited and nervous about my cruise but with all the info I have had from other solo cruisers I am sure it will be fine. I have booked a balcony cabin so I can enjoy a wee bit "me" time if I feel like being on my own, and have booked myself into a table of 10 every night for dinner. My husband and I always joined a large table and loved meeting people, some of whom I still keep up with via e-mail etc. have already booked some excursions with the ship and people who are also on the cruise. It will also be the 3rd anniversary of my husband' s death when I am on the cruise (which worried my family a bit) but I will be in a port exploring that day and it will help take my mind of it rather than sitting at home dwelling on it. I know he will be saying "you go girl!!" Every step is a milestone so to anyone who is in a similar position, please overcome your fears and lets just go for it. Anne

  7. Thank you Heather. I feel so much better about doing this cruise since receiving so many positive reports from people such as yourself. My husband and I flew to Miami to pick up a cruise around the Caribbean and stayed overnight there before boarding.mLoved it and I am sure u will as well. Thank u again and have a great cruise.

  8. Hi, I was married 42 years when I lost my husband in Nov 2010. We had cruised together around 8 times between the Med and the Caribbean. I have since cruised with my sister and mum, and have now booked to go solo around Australia and New Zealand this Nov. I have received many encouraging posts from other solo cruisers which have helped put my mind at rest. I stay in Scotland so it is a big trip but I know my husband will be by my side cheering me on!! When u have been part of a very happy marriage every day on ur own is a challenge, but I just tell myself to get up and do it. Hope these posts help u to book a cruise soon. Good luck x

  9. Welcome to Cruise Critic! I'm a long time solo traveler/cruiser and your trip sounds wonderful. I understand your apprehension and would like to suggest a few ways to ease you into your first solo cruise experience. First, since you have joined CC, sign up for the roll call for your cruise. You can find it by going to Roll Calls on the main forum, selecting Royal Caribbean, then Radiance and find you sailing date. If one hasn't been started you can start one. Roll calls are a great way to meet others who will be cruising with you and most have group activities like a pre-M&M (Meet & Mingle), slot pulls, cabin crawls, etc. Also, if there is a particular tour you want to do in port you can ask others on your roll call if they are interested in doing it too. Last year a group of us took a great tour in St. Maarten and another group had a wonderful dinner in Aruba.

I like to have a large table for dinner, too, and as a solo it makes for a nice way to hear what others did in port and sometimes we have made plans to go to shows together. I would also recommend if you are going on an excursion solo you book it through the ship. It costs a bit more but I think the security of knowing you will get back to the ship on time is worth it, plus you will be with others from your ship and it is a great way to make new friends.

One of the things that is best about solo cruising (besides not having to share those tiny cabin bathrooms:D) is you have the freedom to be on your own or join in group activities. I like time on my own to just laze about but also enjoy meeting and spending time with others. Cruisers, as you know, are a very friendly and social group. Also, there are boards on CC for solo and single cruisers, you should check them out. The solo board is fairly active and you can get answers and advice from others who have cruised solo/single.

    Have a great cruise:)

Thank u both for your replies. I will certainly register for the roll call and u have both helped put my mind at rest. My husband and I did a few trips to the Caribbean but we never got to Australia so this will be a first also. Really can look forward to it now. Thanks again.

  10. Hi, just wondered what it is like to be a solo traveller on the Radiance. I previously have done around 8 cruises with my husband, but I am now a widow and this will be my first solo cruise. I am travelling from the UK to Australia to do the Australia/New Zealand tour, staying a couple of nights in Perth, then a week with friends in Sydney when I disembark. I am flying Emirates and this will be my first time flying with them but I believe they are well recommended for long haul flights. Have booked to join a table of 10 as we always did this and found it a nice way to get to know people. Looking forward to the cruise very much although slightly apprehensive. :)
