  1. We are looking at an Australian/New Zealand cruise on the Noordam and want a balcony cabin. Does anyone know which side of the ship (port or starboard) the smoking side is on the outside decks?  I want to make sure we are not on the side where smoke can drift up or down from that area. Thanks for your help.

We have never been on HAL before so I’m not familiar with their rules.

  2. Two questions because I'm lactose intolerant:

Does anyone know if the coffee place has specialty drinks with nondairy milk options available (almond, coconut, etc)?

For meals, do I just ask the server about dairy in the food? Or do I put somewhere on my reservation that I'm lactose intolerant?

I’m allergic to dairy. Every night I get the menu for the next night and place my order so they can prepare the food so that I can eat it. If the dish normally has something in it that I cannot eat and they can make it so that I can eat it, they will do it.

  3. I have been to St. Petersburg twice and the people were warm and welcoming both times.

My tour bus accidentally left me at one of our stops and all of the people were very kind and offered to help me. I learned some Russian before my trip and knew how to communicate a little with them and I think that made a world of difference. People appreciate it when you try to speak their language.

The city is spectacular and the history is amazing. I can’t wait to go back in June and take My husband and sister to show them all of The wonderful sights I saw and just to experience the joy that is Russia is all of its beauty.

  4. It was a really fun time...I was worried because thought it would be a huge spring break college cruise but it wasnt that at all. Really enjoyed Osheehans for breakfast and lunch....Cagneys was alright nothing special. Tappanayki was enjoyable. Also I saw allot of questions about the NCAA tournament being on board and it was in fact on board but only 1 game at a time. Ask away if you have any questions

Was Siglo still on board performing in The Cavern?

  5. Just got off the Epic and guys (lots!) were wearing short and ball caps in the Manhattan room. Now most gents had pants on but there were quite a few who did not. Maybe because it was Spring Break? Changed a lot since the last time I sailed here - but we still had a lot of fun.

Was Siglo still on the ship performing in The Cavern? They are by far the best rock and roll band at sea.

  6. I am afraid i cant remember the names but for us this was the best casino on the Princess Ships. Lots of table games, including a craps table (last ship didnt have one). As for slots, a lot of the usual ones, plus some newer 1cent machines, that actually cost $'s not cents - fire and rain was one i think (i should know i was addicted).

Also a post a couple of weeks ago had asked about payouts, this was the biggest paying out casino i had ever seen. The machine above was paying out hundreds each time someone sat down, i saw a woman scoop 4.5k on the 2nd day, and a friend of ours won 3 separate jackpot bonuses of a $1000 on a 25cent machine.

Do they have Texas Hold ‘em electronic tables or real live dealers?

    Thanks.

  7. Hello!

My family and I plan to sail on Anthem of the Seas next spring. We are debating between a "Spacious Ocean View" cabin and an "Interior with Virtual Balcony."

Both staterooms will be basically the same price. From what I can tell from the deck plans, the Spacious Ocean Views are at the front of the ship (we are looking at deck 9 for this stateroom category). The Interiors are mid-ship (looking at deck 8).

Our youngest suffers from motion sickness in the car. With such a large ship, should we expect much motion all the way forward on deck 9 compared to mid-ship?

I like the fact that the ocean view is larger (we will have three people in one stateroom and two people in the other), but I am a little concerned about the location on the ship.

Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

We were on Oasis a few weeks ago and I never once felt any motion on the ship. It’s so darn big that you just don’t feel like you are on a ship. But if you are concerned, then book a midship cabin as low as possible.

  8. We are looking for a hotel for two days pre and two days post cruise for the end of July. We would like to keep the price down as much as possible. Anyone stayed in something in a good and safe area that they would recommend. Also how much for taxi would we pay for transfers to and from airport and ship. Is there someplace to look that kind of thing up?

We just booked The A Train Hotel. Very reasonably and across from the train station.

  9. For those of you who have sailed on the charter sailboat Nightwind, this was posted to FB today:

    “Nightwind update

Just wanted to say thank you all for your positive thoughts and prayers we received after Hurricane Irma and then again after Maria

These storms were life changing for the island and the islanders

As many of you have heard our beautiful Yacht Nightwind was severely damaged during Hurricane Irma

At this time we are in contact with the adjuster and insurance company

We have cancelled our future reservations due to the uncertainty of if and when she can be rebuilt

We will keep you updated as we can

And again Thank you to all our previous guests and for many years of support for Nightwind

    Fair winds and following seas”

  10. Do c2 balcony cabins have bath robes for use in the cabin and also is there a fridge that you can put chocolate in to have during your cruise

They aren't really refrigerators, they are coolers. At least, this is what I have been told by Celebrity. They keep things fairly cold though if they are already cold.

  11. Walk off is fine if you line up at least an hour before the suggested time. In my experience the lines have been long and slow.. Still too risky for a 10am flight

I second this. Be sure to be first in the walk off line. They are really slow and you never know what can cause hold ups. On a recent cruise, some people from other countries didn't show up when called to report and the entire process was slowed by Almost two hours. Ridiculous.
