  1. Hi - we are on the Equinox in 2 weeks for the Eastern Carribean cruise. This is our first time on Equinox and I have a question that I'm hoping other experienced cruisers can answer. Are laundry services (specifically clothes pressing) provided? I'm sure that I will need this service since irons are forbidden onboard. If you have used this service, were you satisfied with the results? Any information you can provide is much appreciated!

Just a small hint, for small wrinkles in some clothes, you can use a hair straightener to get wrinkles out.

  2. Hello,

We will be sailing on equinox this sunday 8/20--eastern carib.

First time on celebrity--previously sailed on princess and Holland.

Sailing with family (all adults/middle age and our dad --he's a senior but in good health and mobile, etc.)

First question is about the ports--San Juan, St. Thomas and St. Maarten

We have been to all of these before--we don't usually book shore excursions through the ship--we prefer to be on our own and come/go as we please. In the past, we just got off and roamed around a bit then got back on the ship. I think in San Juan we did a taxi tour and hit the high points and then roamed around where they have the shops along brick streets, etc. Cant remember exactly but remember the old brick streets and it seemed pretty lively.

We thought we might do something more this time like go to the beach, etc. while in St Thomas and St. Maarten. I know St Thomas has good shops and so figured we might roam around that morning then head to the beach. I think I have read that you can catch a ferry to St Johns but didn't know if this was worth it or not or best to go to a beach in st Thomas.

Also, in St. Maarten I have heard a lot about the Maho beach....so maybe will go there? What's the best time to see the planes? Also, I kinda figured it would be super crowded--is this the case?

We get into San Juan late so won't do the beach there but any recommendations for any cool bars or things close by?

    Questions about the ship:

Is aqua spa café included for all passengers? Or is it concierge class only? Was mainly interested in the smoothies/juices, etc. We have the classic beverage package.

Also, how much are the frozen drinks at slush? I'm guessing an additional upcharge w/ the classic pkg?

Is it best to wait and book specialty dining onboard or before we go? Really wanting to go the Murano and maybe Tuscan Grill. Also, there are 5 of us so we got connecting staterooms (aft balcony--first time on the aft as well) But.....in the room with 3, only the first two guests got the classic beverage option so it left my dad w/o one. And although he doesn't drink a lot I was going to get him one so he could just order what he wanted w/o worrying about the cost. I was wondering if they offer any specials for the drink package once the cruise started--if so, might wait to get my dad's once on-board.

    Thanks for any info! JC

We have a Roll Call for this sailing if you care to look at it.

  3. Traveling with 10 of our friends on the Constellation May 2018. Anyone actually seen a table for 12??

Early traditional dinning @ 18:15 is full all ready! We will try for select dinning & book at 18:30 each night. we like the traditional dinning because of having the same wait staff & all the pleasure that comes with getting to know them & they us! ...So looking for advice from those that have experience with large group dinning on Celebrity...Thanks!

We traveled with 16 people and had two tables next to each other and moved around every night. It was perfect.

  4. Celebrity finally called me back. The representative said the trial of TDBB was stopped on Equinox because "uhhh, it did not go over very well". Looking forward to our cruise next week with no $10 hot dogs, lol.

    Hurray😀😀

Have two cruises booked on Equinox!!

  5. Just read a different thread which got me thinking about this subject. We love the Solstice Class ships and have sometimes relaxed in the Solarium...on their large loungers. But DW and I find that these loungers, although they look comfy, are not very good for sitting up or reading. We both get lower back aches which seems to have something to do with the angle of the backs. And there is no decent setting for that back angle that works well for reading. But now we are wondering if this is just us....of if others have the same issue.

    Hank

    Totally agree.

  6. I am brand new to the board and fairly new to cruising. We are traveling on Celebrity for the first time in September and booked the guaranteed suite class. I see that we have been assigned cabin 8121 which is an accessible sky suite next to the elevator. My husband is a very light sleeper and I am wondering how bad the noise is from the elevator. I called but the girl on the phone was of little help and pretty much told me this is where we were booked and nothing could be done about it. Does anyone have any experience with these cabins?

We always try and get a cabin close to the elevators and have never had a problem with noise from the elevators or the people. That is our experience over many cruises. Others may have had different experiences.

  7. We just disembarked the Epic in Barcelona on the 14th also. We got in line at 8:20 to get off of the ship and waited in line for over 45 minutes to get off of the ship and another 45 to go through passport control.

A minibus was picking 8 of us up at 9:30 and he had to wait until 10:50 for us all to get there. It was a nightmare. We thought an hour and 10 minutes was plently of time to allow. Wrong. I was on the phone with their dispatch begging them not to let him leave 4 times.

  8. I found a Roll Call for the Equinox August 20, 2017 cruise with only 4 posts. A post on that Roll Call said there were three threads for the cruise with over 5100 posts but I can't find those threads anywhere. Can anyone help me with this? The new Cruise Critic layout has me stymied.

I sent an e-mail to Cruise Critic, but have received no response.

  9. Celebrity does not provide glasses/cups/mugs with the beverage packages.

If you want to being one to fill with the free juice/lemonade/iced tea then use one of their cups to get the drink fromthe dispenser and then transfer to your own cup

I also always do this. Mainly for coffee. But never ever put your own container under the serving spout. So disgusting. I see children do it all the time.

  10. I take one of these 6 port things (mine is Anker) and have never had an issue (FYI, I make sure not to leave it plugged in when I'm out of the room, in the past room stewards have not liked that, we just plug everything in when we are there or over night):

Just ordered one. Better safe than sorry. I honestly didn't know you were not supposed to bring extension cords or surge protectors and since no one had ever taken them away from us or told us not to bring them again, I had not reread the rules. I haven't read those rules in a long time.

  11. We will be going on our first cruise on the Summit, next month. We will be having a number of Kindles, Fitbits and maybe other things that will need charging. I understand there are not a lot of outlets in the rooms. I planned to bring an extension cord. Now I just read that you can't bring one with a serge protector.

Exactly what kind of multi outlet cord can I bring?

We have always take an extension cord and a serge protector on all of our Celebrity cruises an have never had them taken away from us. Ever.

Just read that they are on the do not take aboard list. I'm still going to try it. I would rather pack them and have them taken away, than not even try. I will get them back the last night if they take them.
