  1. Yes, the tickets are good on both the public buses and ferries... BUT...they are not sold at the Dockyard, where you can only buy tokens or passes. The closest places to Dockyard where you can buy them are the ferry or bus terminals in Hamilton

Thx again njhorseman for the transportation info. looking forward to our trip to Bermuda.

  2. I've been drinking Dr. Brown's Cel-Ray my entire life. When it morphed from Dr. Brown's Cel-Ray Tonic to Dr. Brown's Cel-Ray soda and went from a beverage that was primarily sold in kosher delis and in neighborhoods with a large Jewish population to something you could buy almost anywhere I'm certain they also toned down the taste. It used to have a pronounced savory bite that was reduced to a more muted level and harder to detect in today's version. A few years ago they also stopped producing the sugar free diet version.

If you can (and I can't in the area where I live), buy it in glass bottles rather than cans. Its taste, and in my opinion the taste of most sodas, is far better in glass than aluminum.

By the way, Dr. Brown's sugar free diet cream and black cherry sodas are quite good.

Thx njhorseman I will look for the glass bottle if no success, then will opt for the can...

  3. Anyway, haven't drank the celery soda but the company also made root beer soda & we like those. Availability varied but the larger deli, 7-11's and stores stocked for variety of items seemed to carry them in the area mentioned. Cruising out of our home port soon - how's Carnival lately, getting tired of NCL so ready to branch out ... and cash in some stockholder's OBC at the same time ;) :p

mking, know what you mean we enjoy the OBC's as well as the stockholders OBC. As you can see we heavily favor CCL. In the last couple years they have cut some perks, and the food offerings have been down graded some, but for the price the value still a good deal. We are most likely in the near future give NCL and or RCCL another try. As promised I will post a review of the Fairfield/Marriott off Astoria.

  4. You are cruising on the Sunshine and this is your departure day?

You are cruising on the Sunshine and this is your departure day?

Yes, the Sunshine, yes final day, leaving port @ 5pm.

If it is, then on your other days, contact waiting taxis until you find someone who'll pick you up before 7AM.

I notice there are gaps in some of the times. Anything special being done?

allowing time for walking, swimming, and picture taking at each stop or site.

What are your plans for lunch? Big breakfast and taking snacks and water.

plan on returning to RND by 3pm est.

It is not recommended to walk from Horseshoe Bay to Gibbs because there are no sidewalks, no breakdowns lanes, and traffic. There are curves and bad sight lines for drivers putting pedestrians at risk.

The walk from Warwick to Horseshoe does not take 2 hours unless you are testing the waters along the way.

oh yes, Swimming and bch time at each bch.

I think it is a good plan that should be done on day2.

full day for day #2, caves, and a in depth visit to St. George.

This will be our 2nd visit to Bermuda, we enjoyed it so much, we are bring a couple with us for their first visit.

  5. How may are in your group and what day to you arrive?

  6. Awesome mking8288, thanks loads for the scouting info....

We are considering walking to Gaspar's around 8pm Friday evening for a sandwich, and then back to the hotel. Sat. morning we'll walk to the mini mart for some diet soda. Yes, I will post a review of the Fairfield, Mini Mart, and Gaspar's.

  7. Thanks Mking8288 for all your info! checking with Carmel.....

We will be looking for a supermarket or equivalent to purchase a 12 pack of "Sunkist Diet" soda for myself. Are you aware of any supermarkets or grocery stores near the Fairfield on Astoria?

  8. Has anyone stayed at the Airway Inn On Astoria, between LGA and the Manhattan Port If so can you give us your thought please...

Hard to believe out of the millions of members on this board, no one has any info...

Kinda scares me........I guess we will be the first to stay there...

  9. Sure, flying into LGA on Friday Sept 30th @ 6pm. and cruising from Manhattan Port next day Sat Oct. 1st. 4 Adults, no sightseeing plans. looking at Airway for jus the overnight stay. Also they offer free shuttle to and from LGA. Like anyone, we are very cost conscious, but will not stand for bedbugs, roaches, or safety issues.... We are not that picky regarding noise family or otherwise. Kids will be kids.... of course we don't want to be subject to any knockdown drag out drunken brawls either. But that happens in some of the best hotels.

  10. Way too late an arrival on the day of the cruise. You have to be at the port by 2:30 to make the TSA cutoff. 30 minutes via taxi is very optimistic if not downright unrealistic.

Where are you coming from? At a minimum you should be on the first flight from your airport leaving at o'dark hundred. If you must do this, read this thread http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2337218 and BUY INSURANCE.

Confused, what does the TSA have to do with a cut off time of any cruise sailing time??? Their only concern should be if your bags are safe and meet prohibited item restrictions....

We can book a flight out of Orlando, Fl to arrive @ LGA @ 10:30am day of. Is that doable?

  11. THANKS. We are 7 so will have to figure out how to best get there. Don't know how many will come in to Terminal 2 and how many to Terminal 3.

Hello, Hoping some New Yorker's or past cruisers will chime in here and give me their input. Party of 4 adults arriving LGA on a Saturday October1, 2016 for cruise on Sunshine. We are considering arriving at LGA at 1:30pm day of cruise (I know some will suggest come in a day before the cruise) the time to the port I have heard is approx. 30mins via taxi. If we take into account for possible heavy traffic, re-routes, or accidents, should we be able to make the port prior to the 4pm sailing?

  12. I used a shoe holder on our last cruise in February on the Fascination and had no problems. I had it hanging on the outside of our bathroom door.

I believe its OK to hang the organizer on the interior closet doors, if someone could confirm this?

  13. As for taking the Q70 bus to the subway/transfer into Manhattan & then the final leg by walking many long city blocks or hauing a taxi (forgetabout it, as 4 of you won't fit with luggage - you will need 2 taxi) - unless you can find a full sized minivan taxi, not "off duty" to take you on the short trip. Beware of weekend subway track works & train lines going out-of-service entirely, switching to shuttle buses on select segments - and, should some stations with elevators/escalator access be "out of services" - not going to be fun to haul those 35 to 40+ lbs. rollers or spinners up and down and across, etc.

Its my understanding the "typical" NY taxi will take up to 4 pass. The luggage will go in the trunk. Please confirm....
