  1. I agree with Mouche!

Lets face the current facts.  Florida's Covid numbers are on the rise which is where most cruisers sail from.  The entire country is still at risk and I also think that cruising will not resume in October or for the rest of the year.

When cruising returns, I do not want to be the first to board any ship.  Imagine being quarantined on a cruise ship stuck in your cabin for two weeks.

Most Americans have compromised health conditions which places them at a greater risk.  Now Covid is taking peoples lives of those that are healthy.

I will thrive from my memories and hope for cruising to begin when it is really safe for us all without having to wear a mask.

Seriously considering filing a dispute with Bank of America for refund on two cruises with Royal Caribbean.

Would there possibly be any penalty/cancellation/retaliation from RC for  the FCCs I currently should have (not received as of yet)?

I thought of doing the same with BOA then decided to wait it out and when I least expected it, credit appeared for the canceled cruise.  Refunds do actually take more than 30 days.  Received my refund in 40 days.

Have a Carnival cruise on 10/31. Would rather cancel for more reasons than one. But it's paid in full and was some sale or another. So we shall trudge on. Also have a X cruise booked for next April and can cancel it. Like that one and don't really want to cancel but we have or had other trips (like Disney World, Hilton Head, Canada cruise) that have been or will be cancelled and some are timeshares where we need to use or lose so I'd rather bump things to next spring and then cancel that X cruise too. I don't know. Just trying to sort it all out. Plus still haven't gotten our refund from cancelled HAL Canada cruise. Not real hopeful we'd get refund on this Carnival cruise either or the X cruise.

I also have a cruise booked on the Horizon for the same date.  I really do not know what my final decision will be with everything that is going on.  Final payment is due in August and we are almost there.  In the meantime, there is a potential that there may be a price drop in the coming months. My concern right now is to stay healthy and hope that well all get this trying time.  Watching the news and hearing about all of deaths simply makes me sad. Stay well!

  4. Thanks everyone for including your experiences in this thread.  I'm a native New Yorker who lives in Maryland and I will be taking AMTrak to NY for a cruise Sunday, September 1 this year.  I will not be checking my bag, I want my belongings near me and tend to not overpack for cruises.

Good to know it is best to take the escalator (which I hope will be working) locate the taxi stand.  I arrive at 10:30 with a 1:00 check in.  Since it will be a holiday weekend, hopefully Manhattan will not be too busy!

  5. Glad I found this post.  Very helpful for a Native New Yorker who is traveling 'home" to board the Escape to Bermuda.  Very good tips indeed!  Wish I saw this before I opted to take AmTrak in to NYC from my home in Maryland.  Ticket already purchased to arrive at 10:30 of my cruise.

Driving to NJ would not had been bad for me.  Oh, well next time!

  6. I'm not sure your dates, but I compared Allure (which is MILES better than Breakaway) for the same date... October 6th.. during hurricane season and from the exact same port (Miami). Both are oceanview balcony rooms. Allure with the $100 onboard credit has an effective price that is $1,308.86 CHEAPER than NCL... With Breakaway on this fare you would get Dining and Drink package. (read: You are PAYING for the "free" drink and dining package, don't fool yourself). For $330 you can get the ultimate dining on Allure which is FAR better than the package on NCL as you get specialty dining all 7 nights on Allure. And about $700 would get you the drink packages, which are also superior to NCL's drink package (includes bottled water, too). So if you total that up, Royal is hundreds less, for a far superior product, on the same dates from the same port.

Better ship. Better dining package. Better drink package. Lot less money. You should switch to Royal and be less disappointed.

    Your are welcome.

    I agree with your comparison.

Sailing on NCL Getaway in three weeks on a casino offer. We paid $413 PP for 7-days and that price includes administration fee (?) taxes and gratuities for dining package and normal gratuities . Casino offer will be the only way that I will sail with NCL. Booked on RCL for December and the price was way lower than NCL! I was able to use OBC during a Wow sale and purchased one specialty dining and excursion in Jamaica for $74! I thought this was a bargain and this will be my first cruise with RCL.

  7. Thanks every one who shared your opinion of the Victory. I'm sailing her on April 23 for a girls trip.

I read reviews with an open mind and do not sweat the small stuff. My intentions are to have fun, leave my troubles behind and create more cruise memories.

  8. I was on the ship also when this incident occurred. There was quite a few thing said about why we were docking in Miami by 11:00 PM the night before we were due in port. Someone told my sister and I someone was stabbed. Others stated that it was an medical emergency with no details for the reason. However, I did see an emergency helicopter approaching the ship and prior to that did hear a coded announcement meant for the crew. We still did not receive a clear explanation so I'm with all of the posters and once again I was on the ship.

Sent prayers for all that were involved.
