  1. Besides the dueling pianos, is there anything else that we would like to see on the Icon of the Seas?

    From the FB group list:

    new cabin design

    new type of ride

a room that allows you to see under the hull of the ship

    covered solarium

interactive walls, floors, dining room tables, etc

infinity pool <----- THAT'S A BIG YES FOR ME!

    more solo traveller options

    ice bar

    circus show

    ropes course

    planetarium

    outdoor seating for the Windjammer

    brewery

    hammocks on pool deck

One of the keel sections (two views of it in the insets) has been moved somewhere.

    New stuff about Icon?

Yup.  Nothing that I can repeat though.🙄

Move all the keel sections up to the basin!!!

Old Fart Cruisers, I wish there was something to laugh/smile about, but no news yet. 😪

    Give us something cryptic  Lloyd555!

Some energy, but not much, would be expanded using the sphere. 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️👟👞🥾👠🥿👡👢 😜

So at the least walking through it will require expending energy. As there appears to be steps/tiers, walking up & down will expend more energy. 🙂

    This image again...

Perhaps she will be moved again before they drain the basin. I have often wondered for this particular build were the FERU block is in relation to the rest of the ship. On the sides it looks like the location of the stabilizers. Are they typically in the FERU block? Then one end of the block starts to curve. Is that towards the aft or bow? On most builds I thought the FERU is mostly towards the aft or midship. I could be wrong not being a ship Engineer.

What do you, @Lloyd555 and others think about  that?

I was told that this was closer to the bow. Waiting for it to be placed.

Can we determine stern & bow location by the shape/orientation of the stabilizer opening? Are ones like the one on Icon all the same? Maybe then we can tell if that curve is towards a bow or a stern.

As far as I know, the sphere is still being worked on at the location we assume** that it went to, Mobimar Mobile Marine Applications, boatyard and engineering company - Mobimar

I can't wait to see it installed in the ship. 😄

** Tugs floated it over to a dock close to, and used by Mobimar.

Ya, I noticed that the Royal Caribbean Blog used the term pearl (not a coincidence I am sure) to describe the shape of this piece of the Icon. 🙂 I have seen it elsewhere.
    You
can't wait to see it installed in (e.g. inside) or on top of (e.g. top decks) the ship... ?!

There seems to be two openings on opposite sides, with something that looks like stairs.

Maybe it has a staircase from one deck to another.

A walk through with LED artwork?

I think that Lloyd is suggesting that with his amphitheater post...

Not something very low in the hull.

Curious what people here think it may be.

You can see the size/height of the tiers compared to the people nearby (in small image on the right) and the welder from another image (on the left below) thatI overlapped with the main image.

Those tiers remind me of an amphitheatre. There may be stairs on the right side that we cannot see or perhaps they have yet to be added...

... or there will be a ramp on each side of the tiers perhaps.

It is thanks to some back & forth with Manfred in the FB group, that have me thinking that perhaps it'll be like an amphitheatre. Somewhere to sit and enjoy the view of the exterior of the ship or the ocean maybe.

This nice photo that was found online also had me thinking along those lines.

  7.

Do we definitely have to book a parking spot with WestPark in advance? Is it because Canada Place is not just have a cruise terminal on the premises with parking that is just for ship passengers, hence there is limited parking - so better to be safe than sorry?

I checked some sites that talked about the parking, and what might happen if one did/could not book a spot in advance. In one site someone posted...

Friends we were traveling with had trouble with the website and ended up calling WestPark. They were told to just come to the parking office when they arrived. This ended up working just fine for them too.

FIRST CERTAIN THING THAT WE KNOW ABOUT THE ICON OF THE SEAS

    <drum roll>

The Icon of the Seas will have a curved* bank of elevators.

    Contain your excitement.

Thanks to Edouardo for passing along these screen grabs from a Costa Toscana video he watched.
You can see some doorways for the curved elevator banks on the backside of the blocks that we have been admiring. Must admit that at first glance I though they were the balcony doorways for inward facing cabins.

*I hope that this is the proper terminology 🙂

As pointed out in the FB group, what looks like the bottom of the elevator shafts.

(Lloyd, I am not repeating your 'pits' joke  LOL)

Both the GT and berths could somewhat misleading. Wonder is at 5,700 (so "bigger" than Icon) and while "only" about 230K GT, that excludes the outdoor portion of Boardwalk and Central Park. If that was enclosed, you'd likely be "bigger" than Icon.

When I heard that the Icon was going to be of more gross tonnage (I'm trying not to say bigger), I assumed that it would have open areas in the center similar to the Oasis ships.

    Yup, we do. 😎

The Icon of the Seas is indeed bigger than the present Oasis-class ships at ~ 245,000 GT, and a bit wider at the water line, and longer by one shuffleboard table.

A capacity of about 5600 passengers & 2500 crew as has been mentioned before.

And now that you have that information...

So you were able to confirm it.

By the way, shuffleboard tables range in size from 9 to 22 feet in length. 😛
