We like most of the Voyager class, Freedom class and Radiance class ships where it's still up by the Viking Crown lounge with the beatiful views. I hope they don't go away.
On a recent Alaska cruise we spent most of our time up there with the beautiful views instead of on our (cold) balcony. We could have saved some money and just got an inside cabin LOL...

I forgot to mention that it was never crowded at all. Not even during the happy hour. I wonder if there are just less D, D+ & P's on Alaska cruises?

Wake view for one. The other is the proximity to the possible overflow lounge.
Enchantment is different, though. Up in VCL
Thanks... We'll have to try a Vision class again.

Some people have mentioned that they like the Diamond lounge on Vision class. We have not been on a Vision ship in ages. What are the pros of the Vision class DL's? They look like they are tucked away in the back of the main lounge on deck 6.

Might help if you were the only person handling the chips but that is not the case at all. Would need to do cards for the card games and the dice and the ……..
The same goes for elevator buttons, hand rails and lots of things.
The best you can do is hand sanitizer and then a hot hand washing when you can.
It is rare to see anyone sanitizing arm rests or parts of chairs or stools that we put our hands on all the time when we sit and adjust our chairs in the buffet or MDR or any lounge or bar...
Hands and fingers OUT OF the old pie hole.. LOL
Probably the worst are the touch screens throughout the ship - especially in the photo shop.
Also, don't forget the nasty menus that get used over and over at restaurants that don't get cleaned....

One other thing we have in common (I'm assuming), we are both Packer fans. Although Sallie is from PA, I'm originally from Whitewater, WI.

What is usually offered for lunch in the solarium cafe?
For the times we went, I would charactorize it as a "Mini-Windjammer". A little lighter fare. Great salad bar. Perhaps 3 or 4 protien selections and a variety of vegetables and some pasta selections. Oh, and of course, deserts...

Doesn't look like they offer any IPA's in the beer category ....
The menus can vary from ship to ship and bar to bar. I've seen IPA's at the sports bar or English pub for instance but not at the pool bar etc....

With so many people avoiding the Windjammer, why is it always so crowded?
Probably 1st time cruisers and others that aren't on Cruise Critic... LOL

If an Oasis class I recommend going to the Park Cafe and avoid the Windjammer crowds. If the Solarium Cafe is open that's also a great option.
We also like the Solarium Cafe and the Park Cafe on Oasis. The Wndjammer is just too crowded. We don't mind the Windjammer on the smaller ships.
(BTW, we are MCPO and CPO couple).

We like to cruise with less kids on board so we try to book during times when there are less kids (IE: Longer cruises, smaller ships, when school is in session etc.). That said, we've been on Oasis several times with many kids and there are plenty of areas to find peace... Solarium, Diamond lounge, etc...). We also cruise Celebrity but tend to lean more toward RCI.
I wouldn't rule out an Oasis class ship simply for the excellent entertainement on board. You might want to try one.
Keep us posted!
Cheers

Other random thoughts for B2B:
* If you want a particular table, perhaps a romantic table for 2, let the maitre d' know the first week...they will usually accommodate you.
* There will be a "special lunch" for B2B passengers the first day of the second week...limited menu but very nice.
* I know you said you will be moving to a new cabin, same deck, in a JS. Usually, for those staying in the same cabin, you will have access to your cabin. Note: If you introduce yourself to the cabin steward of your second cabin, perhaps he/she can have that JS ready earlier...and you can have access to it sooner than most passengers.
* Something minor: Put away your old seapass card, so you won't get it mixed up with the new one...it happens to the best of us. 😁 The old one won't work...quite embarrassing when you do it when leaving the ship.
Congratulations and Happy Sailing!
Great advice!
We love to have the special lunch for B2Bers on the second leg since the Wndjammer and many other venues are a madhouse on the first day. Sometimes they have included free wine (we haven't seen this lately though 😞 )...
We are doing another B2B this coming December on the Harmony. We always make sure we don't have to change cabins so we've never experienced that.

Lunch is the main dining room on port days is wonderful. Love the salad offering and I am not much of a salad person. And at lunch, you can request a private table.
<<<SNIP>>>
Our experience is that lunch in the main dining room is on Sea days, not Port days.
But yes, we agree, they are wonderful in our opinion. Most ships have the Tutti salad bar and many ships have a buffet set up as well as a' la carte off the menu.

We've done a few of them. Both good and bad responses above are correct in our opinion.
I guess it depends on who's in the cast on whether it's good or not. Food is always good and wine is so-so.
At 50% discount, I might try it again.

Now, people dress much more casually almost everyplace than they once did ... not just on ships.
It's very noticable when you look at old pictures or newsreels of baseball games from the 1950's and earlier to see the folks in the stands wearing suit & ties.

Thanks, we also don't use the balcony, the past year we been on the Oasis three times and had JS and never used the balcony more than 20 minutes on each cruise and it was a nice huge balcony too. I think we will use the Central Park balcony since we can people watch and we like to sit in Central Park, now we don't have to find a seat to sit there we have our balcony. I think we are going to like it more than Oceanview balcony.
You have similar likes as we do. Some folks really like sitting on the balcony looking at the ocean but we prefer to people watch so CP's are better for us. We haven't tried Boardwalk but I've read that, depending where they are, they can be quite loud. On the other hand some of them have nice views of the aqua show. Nice to have a choice.

We've stayed on deck 11 and deck 12 not too far from elevators. No problems and we booked again for the 1/27 Oasis sailing on deck 11.
Privacy not an issue - close the curtains!
No noise. We can hear the music from pool deck during the day if out on the balcony. Door seals were good in our cabins.
We don't use balcony much anyway so it suits us. Perks and lower price are a good value for us.

We were interrupted on two different nights in the middle of dinner in the main dining room on an Equinox cruise last year by a member of the wait staff offering reduced rate at a specialty restaurant. There's a time and a place that's appropriate to hawk something and in the dining room when a passenger is eating isn't it. It's just plain rude.

I am sure that some would compalain that they weren’t asked because they didn’t know that it was available or informed about any of the stuff they were selling. Believe it or not but there are passengers sailing that think they have to eat in buffet because they didn’t know that’s the MDR was included. There are others that are in suites and AQ and dine in the MDR because they didn’t know that Blu or Luminae was their restaurant. It is a shame that the host in the MDR didn’t inform them. So to add more revenue Celebrity wants to make sure that all passengers know about the extras or the special prices that just brings it down to what it should be.
Upselling is part of doing business everywhere. A friend was a manager at Office Depot and was fired becasue his store didn’t improve performance. I asked how can you generate more business and he said by having the employees upsell or seek more. Eg when someone purchases paper ask or suggest ink, pens, and etc.
Fast food restaurants. How many times have you been asked if want fries or larger drink to go with it?
happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
I agree with both of these comments. Upselling OK but there's a point where it's overdone and inappropriate and it seems to be getting worse in the past few years on both Celebrity & RCI (I haven't cruised any other lines)... No flames please .. just an observation

No, I haven’t experienced anything like this. I can recall times when waiters asked if I wanted a dessert or a refill on my coffee. I can recall times when I was asked if I wanted the bed made up. I can recall times when I was asked if I wanted extra ice with my drink. I can recall times when I was asked if I wanted to try a specialty restaurant. I can recall times when the sommelier wondered if I wanted to try a wine tasting event. I can recall times when severs in the bar asked if I wanted another drink. I don’t find any of these requests to be unusual or offensive or intrusive in any way. As far as I am concerned, there are three ways to respond to such offers of service: a) Yes please. b) No thanks. or c) Tell me more. Getting all huffy seems a bit of an over reaction.
Stan
Gee Stan. You sound a little more "huffy" at me than I am about the upselling.
No need to attack me about an observation I have.

We just got off a 14-day Southern Caribbean cruise on the Reflection out of Ft Lauderdale. I'm already annoyed by all the upselling of drink packages, specialty dining, spa etc. etc. You can't go anywhere on the ship anymore without being hawked all the time with the upsell pitch at every venue entrance.
This cruise beat all for the annoyance. I've never seen these two tactics before:
1. During the Elite event in the evening, the servers tried to sell specialty dining. I wonder if they get a commission?
2. While dining in the MDR during our late seating, the head waiter came up to our table of 8 with a chef from the galley. The two of them together pitched specialty dining while we were eating our dinner!!! Unbelievable! If it gets any worse, I wouldn't be surprized that they drive people away.
Has anyone else experienced this or worse?

Drink of the day was $1.95 and Screwdrivers and Bloody Marys were always $1.95 everyday.

That was true in our case on our 2017 Radiance Alaska cruise as well. We always dine at late seating so the D lounge was clearing out as we always go when their seating starts.. Great service!
Our last cruise on the Adventure repositioning cruise from Quebec City to Ft Lauderdale was packed in both the D lounge and the overflow in the Imperial lounge on deck 5. Service was aweful. They just did not have enough servers for the large crowds.
