  1. Our ship ports in Harvest Caye and I had a couple of questions.  The ship sells a pool cabana that I was considering when on the generic shore excursion site is said $249, but for our specific cruise the price is $349.  So I have a couple of questions.  For the regular chairs around the pool are there umbrellas/shade?  We are traveling with my 73yo mother and she doesn't want to be in the sun.  Does anyone know details about the golf cart rides for people with mobility issues?  Do you have to arrange with ship?  Is there a fee, or do they do it for tips?  Any advice anyone has for Harvest Caye with an older adult with mobility issues would be greatly appreciated!!

So I'm confused.  Will these machines be freely available for anyone or will you have to use your medallion to make anything other than the ice maker work?

Will you have to have a soda package assigned to your medallion I assume?

The way they work on Royal Caribbean is you have a cup that has a chip in it.  The machine reads the chip to dispense.

  4. We sailed on Royal Caribbean with the Freestyle machines one time.  That particular cruise, they hardly ever had all the options available and there was quite a line.  If they maintain the machines so that the necessary ingredients are not out all the time, I do think it could be a good thing

Princess booked tours receive priority tender access. If you are Elite you already know you get that service. Full suite passengers also get priority tender service.

Grand Cayman tender service is shorter and quicker.

Not always that quick, this is why our tour left without us in Grand Cayman.  Not on Princess, but Royal Caribbean, we booked an independent tour, set the meeting time, and apparently they included another family with us.  The other party posted on Cruise Critic about the "great" excursion they had because the other family didn't show.  According to the tour guide, they were on the first tender and refused to wait. It was our first cruise with Royal Caribbean and had NO perks.  We were in line for tender tickets 15 minutes before they were to start giving them out, it took us over an hour to get off the ship.  If you are booking a private tour, I would 1) check if you are the only people on the tour as the guide will be more likely to wait 2) be sure that you let them know that tendering could take a while because of ship sponsored tours, high loyalty passengers, etc. 3) have a back up plan in case they don't wait.

There were four ships in port that day, so that does make the tenders spread pretty thin.

  6. Has anyone taken a cab from the port to Cayman Spirits Co?  If so, what was the cab fare?

Also, does anyone recommend anything either on the way, or back other than Royal Palms Beach Club or Calico Jacks?  We've been to Grand Cayman a couple of times and have been to Stingray City, Rum Point, Hell, etc. and we are doing water activities in all the other ports.  Just looking for something unique while in Grand Cayman.

    Thanks!

Would love to take her to see the stingrays but I don't think she could get up and down a boat ladder in and out of the water.

Book through Marineland tours, they have a very nice boat that is specially equipped for limited mobility.  Their website has pictures.  Very easy to get in and out, but also the staff will assist.

  8. I am looking for recommendations for any snorkeling tours that do NOT include sting ray city.  We have done the Sting Rays a couple of times and looking for a good snorkel with the reef/fish to be about 10 feet or so down.  If it includes a beach break all the better, but not a necessity.  We were interested in the Kittiwake trip, but it says that it is 30 feet or so down and that seems a little far down.  Thanks if advance for any suggestions.

The Zoo is pretty cool, not anything like an American zoo.  The Altun Ha and River Wallace tour is AWESOME.  Small boats with eagle-eyed animal spotters.  Altun Ha was fascinating.

TIP:  Make absolutely sure if you go to the zoo that you bring bug spray/wipes.  I was eaten up by something that itched for 3 weeks.

Feel free to ask any questions...  we would do it again, yes, or might try a different island next time.

What kind of food/drinks were offered and what were the prices like??

  11. I would recommend marinelandtours.com.  The steps were VERY manageable as a larger person.  If you go to the site you can even see pictures of how it looks.  The waves are not that bad out there and it is probably only up to waist to chest deep, so you can see how their steps go well into the water.  We've been to Stingray city 3 times, and I've been able to get on and off each time, but this one was the easiest.

  12. All this talk about the Coffee Card, and getting brewed coffee with it. Does this mean that coffee is not included on Princess? This will be my first Princess Cruise, and I am just wondering what type of coffee they serve without the coffee card, and how much is the coffee card? It is not on my Cruise Personalizer as an option like the other beverage packages.

  13. I am going on Emerald this Sunday to AK and I plan on taking photos of everything because I have had such a hard time finding this information out myself!

Don't mean to rush you settling back in. I hope your trip was amazing!! Did you happen to take pictures of the Patters?
