  1. There was no need to, other than when we could not dock in Miami for de-embarkation (port was closed due to a storm) it was never full
  2. Last week it was Edwin They put out food around 5 One of the best Crown Lounges I have enjoyed
  3. Varies a bit but 8:30 to 12:30 was most common
  4. My pleasure For the record the ship is in good shape. It needs furniture replacement and wifi upgraded (no wifi in staterooms and it's hit and miss beyond that). Reportedly this will be addressed in the March drydock. Also, luggage does NOT fit under my bed.
  5. Currently onboard Grandeur. Brunch is offered on sea days (regular breakfast menu thus far on port days) Attached is a menu. You can also ask for many things (Cream of Wheat, oatmeal...) that are not on the menu The carrot cake was very good
  6. They still have the Ben & Jerry's sign and are still serving B & J at Park Cafe on Grandeur
  7. It looks like Grandeur is running late for it's arrival on Wednesday. Ship tracking shows it's coming in at 9:45am instead of the original 6:30. Is there anyone onboard that can tell us why?
  8. I have several cruises coming up to new destinations and am looking for dive recommendations Nassau Puerto Plata St Thomas St Croix I doubted there are good choices but... Colon, Panama Puerto Limon, Costa Rica Cartagena, Columbia Thanks in advance (especially Harris!)
  9. I got it from the Cruise Director when I was onboard - during the Q&A session with him
  10. All that will be changing is the schedule and the addition of Blue Planet. No shows are going away
  11. These are observations, not necessarily complaints and certainly not whining, but the Royal Caribbean product is changing and I want to post my observations Here are subtle but notable changes I've seen recently (please add your own observations) Salad bar "toppings" options greatly reduced cutting down to three dressings on salad bar (no more blue cheese dressing) Eliminating spinach on the salad bar Fresh fruit is no long cut up, it is sliced but not cut up No more strawberries and no honey dew melon on my last two cruises (not too long ago you could get mango, passion fruit, star fruit...) Wedge salad doesn't include blue cheese crumbles (but does have blue cheese dressing) Obviously the whole change to the main dining room menu You may order as many items as you would like (starters, entrees, desserts) but they will serve only one at a time. only 4-5 butter patties on the table when you sit down at a table of 6 (this was the norm, not an exception) Harmony is going to once a day room cleaning/servicing rather than twice a day, with it moving to another ship soon and likely fleetwide Sorrentos used to have other options in addition to pizza, no more What have you noticed?
  12. I have been on three 7 day cruises since December and a ton of cruises over all Two of my recent cruises were with the new menu, one was with the old menu. I dislike the new menu. Why? The options are not very appealing to the point that some nights I skipped having starters, other nights I skipped desserts. (it does save RCCL if you skip and it helps your waistline too) The theming makes no sense because one or two of the entrees do not fit the theme That's my 2¢ on the subject
  13. Beginning in late April ( I believe the last cruise of the month) there will be changes to the Allure entertainment schedule in the Amber Theater as they are bringing back Blue Planet Currently it is: Day 2 & 3 headliner Day 4 Different headliner Day 5 & 6 Mamma Mia It will be changing to Day 1 & 2 Mamma Mia Day 3 & 4 Headliner Day 5 & 6 Blue Planet (or something very similar to this)
  14. Departing Allure today was a DISASTER RCCL does not allow shuttles to stand with signs as you see at other ports and apparently they often do not allow Uber, only Lyft Uber and Lyft would say 10-15 minutes (at a high price of $150-300) and one you confirmed they would say looking for driver ... until they timed out and cancelled, making you start all over again. And each time you started over the price was higher Side note: Uber was always the lower of the two options but what good is it if they don't deliver? Using the Wait for Cheaper option resulted in waiting an hour and then timing out with no drivers available Even pre-scheduled Uber and Lyfts were picking up an hour late, or not at all. I know of several people that missed flights My recommendation is to either pre-book a regular shuttle service like Galveston Express or book the RCCL shuttle bus for you debarkation. My thoughts: 1. RCCL should allow other shuttles to pickup without reservations 2. Uber / Lyft should have to pay the passenger when they are unable to deliver. If they want us to pay them if we cancel, they should pay us when they cancel or no show. We rely on their experience, knowledge and algorithms to make a decision, they should be responsible if they are wrong or provide inaccurate/misleading information
  15. Normally when you play trivia or some other "game", the winner gets a small tchotchke such as a RC Pen, zipper pull, key ring or the much coveted highlighter. Currently on Serenade of the Seas they are giving out raffle tickets instead of the tchotchke's. They promise there will be a great raffle on Day 6 (or sooner, they will let us know) for great prizes that "may include excursion discounts, bingo packages worth $36 and more!" They promise we will be thrilled with the new opportunities this offers. It sounds like this is brand new and they weren't really sure what the prizes will be or when the raffle will be. Day 6 is a tough day to get an excursion discount, given day 7 is a sea day before we get off. This change might be a great new innovation or might be a bust I'll let you know how it all works out.
  16. You do need reservations. You are allowed to reserve only one show but you could always wait in line to see of any seats open up at showtime. I hear the line for standby starts 30-45 minutes before showtime.
  17. Their shakes are soft serve and syrup ... not very good and not worth using a voucher on
  18. I just found this in a post in the last 24 hours: "We just got back from a Carnival cruise and our scuba excursion was cancelled. The Shore Excursion Desk said that the cancellations were fleet-wide due to some insurance requirements. They were not sure if scuba would be offered in the future." Response from someone on a Trans-Pacific Royal cruise: "We asked on board at the start of our cruise and were told they arent offering scuba excursions as there is too much risk and insurance too high. They said they may still offer them on carribean ships, namely oasis class, where they have a master diver onboard." This could explain the lack of Scuba Excursions on my up coming three cruises. Only one has a Scuba excursion and which has been listed as "sold out" almost since it was listed. Here is a link to the thread:
  19. It would be nice if they were doing that. But using flavored syrup instead of real chocolate or strawberries still doesn't cut it (in my opinion)
  20. Yes to Red Sail Sports ... and they do an awesome job
  21. The milk shakes are a waste of time .. milk, soft serve and flavored syrup ... not worth the calories
