What sailing are you on?  I only ask because I see the EXCELLENT Journey cover band DSB Band will be on board Feb. 6-9.  They'll probably do 2 shows, one in the nightclub and one in the TWO70 Theater.  Worth going to both, but the show in TWO70 would be the one to see if you had to pick one.  There are 4 dates listed but it may just be that they're on board for 4 days.  If that kind of music interests you, make sure you can get to at least one of those shows.

If I recall the discussion comparing the first cruise I was on to the one on Anthem last year, the trip down the coast never goes past the continental shelf so the seas were MUCH calmer, there was no one day that was better than another for seeing the shows as they were all smooth.  It all really depends on what the weather is like, if there is a safety risk the show will be cancelled but if my experience on Explorer of the Seas is any indication the seas need to be pretty rough to do that.  The Gift only ran the first few days, while We Will Rock You ran later in the trip.  Sets for The Gift looked pretty elaborate, they weren't going to switch the theater for alternating nights.

Also be sure to check out the fireworks show in TWO70 on the last night.  You read that right, search YouTube for it.

We are on the March 30th sailing.  I did hear that they will be onboard!  Do you know dates for this cruise?

  2. Can anyone give me feedback between these 2 destinations excursions?   I've been to Chankanab on Cozumel before and had a wonderful day with the Royal dolphin swim. I loved that it included snorkel gear, drinks and buffet lunch.  It looks as if I can get a package at dolphin encounters blue lagoon in Nassau that includes lunch but I'm not seeing anywhere that drinks are included. Does anyone have personal experience with blue lagoon dolphin encounters? The packages almost double the cost of Chankanab!!!  What are differences? Similarities? Thanks!!

  3. Trying to decide between these 2 options.

Deluxe Cabana has... deluxe lunch buffet, beach towels, 2 floating beach mats, 4 bottles of water, and 2 sets of snorkeling equipment

Beach Bungalow has....floating beach mats, water, and beach towels

It seems that the only real difference is location and snorkel equipment??  I assume you can still get the buffet with the Bungalow??  Is there concierge service for either?

I am interested to hear opinions on both.   Is one location better that the other??

  4. Hi!! The cruise was good. For this ship it was the perfect length. Should I had been on the Dream, Magic, Breeze or Vista iI would have needed longer!!!

Cabins were good. We went with 6432, 6430. The L shape was great!! I loved the balcony and the layout of the cabin was nice. It was basically the same size just turned on it's side. We only heard some noise 1 night and it only lasted for a few minutes. 6430 however was MUCH louder. Thank goodness my kids had the TV on while they sleep or I would have heard more complaints from them. 6430 had 2 uppers and 2 lower. They loved the uppers. My size is pretty average and I was a little concerned when I tried out one of the top bunks!! I wonder what the actual weight capacity is?? I can't imagine anything over #180 is very safe :o

  5. How old are your kids? I would want a room with 3 true beds. That trundle is very close to the floor and very small

12,10,10....I'm think I'm going to go with the L shape and the kids across the hall. I think they would be better with the bunk pulling out of the wall vs trundle. Now My worry is that door that separates the L-shaped balcony from the hallway. I'm going to have to get extra keys for them to be able to come into our cabin if they want. I hope there's no issues there.

  6. I'm trying to decide between which cabins I choose for my family. I initially wanted the L shaped balcony cabin number 6432 with the kids across the way in the interior 6430 but then I watched a YouTube video that showed there was actually a door separating the balcony cabin from the hallway. So basically you have to use your key card to get through one door and then your key card a second time to get through your cabin door. I don't know that I want the kids this far away from me. And not to mention if they want to come into my cabin it would be difficult to get them through that first door. My second option was a premium balcony cabin number 8427 and across the hall the interior 8429 but from what I understand the interior has two twin beds and a trundle. How on Earth is there room on the floor for anyone to move around with that sort of set up? Does anyone have any and put on any of these cabin selections? Your replies are much appreciated!4b31c8e07ef9ad5faea86397984fb434.jpgab7e98982a675ad79c5250621d42306e.jpg

  7.

APPROXIMATE PER PERSON COSTS TO GO ON YOUR OWN

Roundtrip taxi from ship (Havensight) to Red Hook: $20

    Roundtrip ferry cost: $14

Roundtrip taxi cost to Beaches: $14

    TOTAL APPROXIMATE COST: $48

Fares could vary slightly depending upon your taxi. If you are docked at Crown Bay, add approximately $4 roundtrip for the taxi to Red Hook.

I might need to rethink our plans to go to St. John

We are a family of 5 so it will cost almost $250 just for transportation [emoji30]

Am I missing something? Is there a more affordable way?? I haven't looked at ship excursions yet...

  8. Try Yelp for reviews, as well.

SuperShuttle at the airport can be annoying, because they tend to wander around until they're full before leaving - at the port, with a few thousand getting off at once, that may not be as much of an issue. Inbound, you're picked up at the time you select. There may or may not be other stops.

I used them for years until I discovered my company had a limo contract :)

They can be much cheaper than cabs because they are shared rides - it just may take time to find the people you're sharing with.

Well this is great thank you so much for the information. So it's not necessarily the person to person service it's the timeliness aspect. So hopefully I will not have an issue as I am doing a private reservation. I have a large group so as long as our group is there altogether at the meeting spot we should be on the shuttle and away we go right?

  9. For about $20 admission fee you can use the park, beaches, snorkel lagoon, facilities, etc. You need to bring your own towel and are welcome to bring your own snorkel gear. Food/drinks/service are good - about what you'd find at Paradise Beach, Play Mia or other popular beach clubs. You'll pay extra to swim with the dolphins, etc.

Find a post by Mitsugirly and click on the link in her signature for Chank - she has great photo reviews.

Thanks. So the comments I see about having to pay to snorkel are probably those who didn't bring their own gear and had to rent? How about the sea lion show. Is there a fee for that?

  10. I'm seeing so many mixed reviews. Have you been there? If so what do you actually get with the entrance fee? Can you swim and use the beach chairs or is there a fee? If you bring you own snorkel equipment do you still have to pay? Is food and drink expensive? Tell me all about it.

  11. I'm also leaving on carnival out of Galveston. We land at Houston hobby. Wondering if we should stay at a airport hotel and utilize shuttle then take a private transfer to port or private transfer to port area and hopefully find hotel with shuttle to port terminal. I'm thinking staying in the airport area would be more cost effective especially if we would need a place for dinner and a store would be nice to purchase the soda we will bring on board. My question though is... where is a good location. Safe but with stores and resturants within walking distance. I've heard there are some sketchy areas in Houston.

  12. We will be on the Magic next spring and will have 3 boys 2 @ 11.5yo and 1 @ 12.5

I wonder if they will let the 2 that are just a few months shy of 12 into club c or the 12.5yo into camp carnival (i think that is what they call the 9-11 section???) to be with his friends. Any opinions on how to handle this?

  13. You can get the Miller, just not the big cans. In January, we actually bought a case of the small cans from one of the bartenders & our room steward kept a few iced down for us.

Thank you! Just curious... do you remember how much a small can (12ozs?) Was?

  14. Have been on both. Was on the Sunshine repo from New Orleans to Port Canaveral 11 nights and Magic western Caribbean 7 nights. Ship to ship prefer the Magic. If you go after the dry dock in early 2016 the Sunshine can't hold a candle to the Magic. Well Jamie Dee is a great CD!

So Magic is going into dry dock? Do you know dates?
