  1. Also, when looking for last minute price drops remember that re-pricing your booking may mean a change to any perks you currently have and check what happens to your perks if you re-price. Sometimes the lower price isn't worth it if you lose perks and/or OBC.

Yeah, I know this all too well. This was a trip originally booked for last August. My calendar was a mess that month so I changed it to this year. I lost a perk in the process as you only get the perks they are offering when you change.. I don't remember, but I might have also lost my $200 OBC for the on board booking as well. Does anyone here know if you lose such bonuses if you change a reservation that was originally booked onboard?? I had thought not origianlly and don't remember what I was told as it was a year ago!

  2. You need to call them directly. Getting opinions on a forum can lead to problems.

No worries. I don't do anything without full knowledge. I have talked to Celebrity and will do so gain. I will also talk to them when I pay as I want to inquire on a few other issues. I just wanted to see if others have experienced the same as i have recently. I think the first response explained what likely happened as it contextualized what Celebrity had told me on the phone by providing a little more perspective.

  3. Did you book direct with celebrity or via a TA? It's not unusual for a TA to set out a final payment due date a week or two ahead of the celebrity's. Assuming the emails are directly from celebrity, is there any chance at all you are mistaken about your final payment date? If you miss your date because of an error on your side they have every right to cancel your cruise and keep your deposit. If you are sure about your final payment date and want to hold out until that, that's completely up to you. But in regards to your reasoning that you are waiting for a price drop - 1. Almost certainly they will wait until after the due date to drop prices so they don't have to re-price everyone's reservation that is watching and 2. If they do drop the price and you have already paid in full, they will issue you a refund for the difference. The date you pay in full is irrelevant to price drops, all that matters is the date final payment is due.

I booked through Celebrity and missed my window for transferring to TA, unfortunately. I had thought that once final payment is made you could not change booking. If that is triggered by the payment date, then you are correct and there is no reason not to pay now. As for price drops, if the emails are going to all bookings, then there may be several people cancelling early, which could trigger a price drop. I have actually seen movement in the past few days, just not quite low enough to trigger a rebook. Thanks for your input! (and everyone else as well)

  4. I have received two reminder emails that my final payment is due and must be paid (the last one said within two days). Thing is, I was originally told that final payment is due May 14, 2017. My reservation on the website says final payment is due May 14, 2017. I called when I received the first email last week and was told final payment is due May 14, 2017 and this must be a quirk in the system.

I saw in another thread (which I cannot seem to find again) that others have had similar notices. I was wondering if anyone else is having same issue. I really want to wait out final payment to see if any last minute price cuts occur. I don't, however, know whether I can rely on what I was told or what the website says. Very confusing!:confused::confused::confused:

  5. I agree with Cruzzinma...My A1 stern cabin two years ago was at A2 price as we are Captains Club members. Same thing with my A1 stern on Solstice in July this year. You may have to book direct to get this, which is what I did in both instances. I am assuming the $3,500 you speak of is $1,750 a person...otherwise it is way too high.

I notice that the description of amenities for AQ on website have changed in that they do not state that you get everything that CC gets plus the added list. Does anyone know if this is a new policy or just an error on the website? I'm curious as might be interested in the embarkation lunch and a few other things.

  7. We did a five night on Connie from 12/26/2017 to 12/31/2017 out of FLL to Key West and Grand Cayman. We had a great time and demographic was not much different that our Bermuda cruise the year before. It was so much fun, we tried to extend B2B while on board, but there was nothing available. Bummed we could not attend the New Years party after one of the bartenders told us how fun it would be.

  8. We never attended one of these until our last cruise. I always thought they would be a waste. When we did attend on the Summit, we were very impressed. Cpt. CD, HD and junior officers attended. They gave speeches on their duties and were very appreciative of the CC folks, informing that they do read the boards. All around a great way to meet the officers and get insight on how the ship is run. Looking forward to the M&G on our July Solstice trip, but need more folks in the roll call!

  9. OK, now that I have your attention! I heard that she was in drydock last year and had a few upgrades, including So5. Anyone with any thoughts on what was done and extent of any refitting?

p.s. Can't wait to be berated for that title! Inevitably people will not read my post and comment. Or read my post and comment negatively...lol!

  10. Sad to hear Bo5 is gone as on our prior three cruises that was our embarkation day go to lunch. On our last cruise the menu had changed a bit with better specials and we had three lunches there. I loved the steak salad!

I am a sushi fan but wife maybe not so much (although she took me to my first sushi restaurant, go figure!). I am sure we will will hit regardless on our embarkation day on Solstice in July as we are not buffet people, especially her! I'll hold my further opinions till then!

  11. I really did not notice the new format that much, but hadn't been on boards in a while! I like the option of looking at signatures if i want to. Most of the time I don't, but every so often...

One thing I can recommend to those of you saying it is too bright and hurts your eyes, is to download a Blue Light Filter (BLF). These are installed on some computers when you purchase or, you can download, some are free, some cost. A BLF removes blue light from your monitor. The screen will have a yellow tinge, but you can instantly feel how much easier it is on your eyes. More and more I have been reading about the effects of blue light on eyes, circadian rhythms, sleeplessness and more. Using a BLF eliminates any effect blue light has in this regard. It may look funny and you may want to turn off when viewing photos and such, but a BLF certainly eases eyestrain on this site and many more. Just use google to learn more about this.

  12. We will be heading on our fourth Celebrity cruise in July. Every cruise has been in AQ with dining in Blu. We both love the food in Blu, but I do no believe the menus have changed since our first sailing several years ago (I believe the maiden year for Equinox). I recall reading a year or so ago that th menu was scheduled for a revamp. Does anyone know if this has happened? I am fine with what we have had in the past, but would like to see some new options!

  13. Thank you for the review!

We are big fans of the crepes' date=' both the entree crepes and the dessert ones. We'll be ok in either case, new menu or not. Plus I'm gluten-free, so the crepes always satisfy. MMMMM!

    Happy cruisin'

    Susan[/quote']

I love the desert crepes, just not so much the savory ones. Just a personal taste thing! I just didn't see the value with the new menu and higher price when I don't like much of what's on there. Another thing missing was the steak salad. That was really good and I had it twice on the previous cruise, but has been axed with the new menu.

  14. We were on Constellation 12/26/2015 sailing. This was our third X cruise and per advice from others have eaten in BO5 each sailing. The first was the original menu and although the food was good, that menu was almost all crepes as I remember and I just don't care for savory crepes. Embarkation was our only meal on this trip.

Last June we were on Summit and the old new menu was being served and price had been increased. We loved it. Wife had prime rib at first lunch and we actually dined here three times that trip. Very high marks and found the daily specials very good.

Our most recent experience was like night and day compared to 6 months prior. The new menu is once a again crepes with a few salads and a few sandwiches. No specials, no hamburger option, same price. We both ordered the Ruben sandwich and it was awful. Served all alone (no side or garnish) on a huge plate, the tiny sandwich was sad and lonely looking. What they referred to as panini style meant dry toast with grill marks, strange tasting and dry corned beef and very little kraut. I ate mine since i was starving. Wife picked at hers, although she also had a decent carrot soup I believe.

We did not go there again on this last trip as it was simply not worth the money. The restaurant was fairly vacant the other times we walked by. It is too bad they made the recent changes as I really enjoyed BO5 last summer and was looking forward to a few lunches there on this trip.

  15. Must say I am a bit disappointed in this if they have removed daily special. In June, my wife loved her prime rib at embarkation lunch. She made me go back a few days later and I ordered one of the specials and loved it as well! In our other X cruise prior we had BO5 on embarkation day and were disappointed with the largely crepe menu back then. Wonder why they are doing so much tinkering with the menu when it seems like people were really actually going there (from my experience in two cruises).

  16. Although I have never been to US Orlando, I have been to the same park in Hollywood several times. The front of the line/express pass is a must do if you are on a tight time schedule. It allow you to ride most rides with little or no line. Also, you get a special seating area for all shows, so you don't need to go early to get best seat.

It looks like you can order online in advance. The price is an add-on to regular admission. For The Universal Studios only park it runs $39.95. All info is available on their website. Note that they only sell limited amounts of tickets, so best to buy in advance.

  17. Please no one take offense to my question; I have no bad intent.

The OP was greatly stressed by this and that is not good thing for anyone. Happy to see it was resolved.

My question: How much does personal responsibility weigh in when determining negligence legally, when someone has an issue such as this, especially when the topic/issue is general knowledge (i.e. do not check valuables)? Just wondering.

OK, I am asking for a free legal opinion but I am in medicine and I get asked all of the time too. I have learned a lot on this thread but had this question. My thanks.

Happy and safe cruising all! :)

The answer to your question is a whole chapter in the Torts textbook. I will provide you with a very short and incomplete answer.

Two theories may apply, Contributory fault or Comparative fault. If the jurisdiction you are in follows pure contributory negligence theory, your own negligence vitiates the other's negligence (i.e. you are not allowed to recover because of your own contributory negligence). I do not think any US jurisdictions follow this.

Comparative negligence/fault has a lot of variations, but in general, your own negligence is considered, and any award/verdict is reduced by the amount of your own negligence. The trier of fact could actually assign you a percentage of fault that will be applied.

This area of law is much more complex than I am stating as there are variations depending on the state. Hopefully, I have given you at least an idea of how it works!

  18. We are in 1111 on the Summit in February and would like to hear from previous occupants as to the pro's and con's of this cabin!

My travel mates were in 1111 and they loved it. One thing I particularly remember is that my buddy really liked the fact that he went out of his room, down the stairs and there was coffee and bagels right there at the buffet. He brought it back up every morning.

I don't recall there being any issue with the sun and they spent a lot of time on their balcony.

We were in 1138 and loved it as well. No noise issues as others have reported and I even slept on deck a few times (because I liked the tropical air, not because DW made me!).

  19. OK...one last thing. This is at best a "small claim." I believe (but am not sure) that FL has similar requirements as California. These include Jurisdictional limit of less than $10,000 (i.e size of claim), no lawyers, informal proceedings, limited appeal.

I believe you are bound to FL law (with possibly some exception) so whatever the comparable statutes say is what would apply. Pretty sure puni's are out the door, your emotional distress would be very limited and difficult to prove and you would likely be stuck with a small claims suit. You may win that, but the results might be less than spectacular.

  20. Punitive damages are not rare, and often occur in cases where the defendant is considered negligent or knowingly engages in actions that cause harm

Just to clarify basic requirements for punitive damages in florida (pretty sure cruise contract requires FL law applies) here is the pertinent parts of the relative statute:

"(2) A defendant may be held liable for punitive damages only if the trier of fact, based on clear and convincing evidence, finds that the defendant was personally guilty of intentional misconduct or gross negligence. As used in this section, the term:

    (a) “Intentional misconduct” means that the defendant had actual knowledge of the wrongfulness of the conduct and the high probability that injury or damage to the claimant would result and, despite that knowledge, intentionally pursued that course of conduct, resulting in injury or damage.

    (b) “Gross negligence” means that the defendant’s conduct was so reckless or wanting in care that it constituted a conscious disregard or indifference to the life, safety, or rights of persons exposed to such conduct.

    (3) In the case of an employer, principal, corporation, or other legal entity, punitive damages may be imposed for the conduct of an employee or agent only if the conduct of the employee or agent meets the criteria specified in subsection (2) and:

    (a) The employer, principal, corporation, or other legal entity actively and knowingly participated in such conduct;

    (b) The officers, directors, or managers of the employer, principal, corporation, or other legal entity knowingly condoned, ratified, or consented to such conduct; or

© The employer, principal, corporation, or other legal entity engaged in conduct that constituted gross negligence and that contributed to the loss, damages, or injury suffered by the claimant.

    (4) The provisions of this section shall be applied to all causes of action arising after the effective date of this act."

Blah, blah, blah...Just keep in mind that there is likely a plethora of case law that interprets and changes certain parts of this.
