No opinion yet on what lies ahead for those of us that love cruising.
No one knows including Princess what the future looks like.
I just want to chime in on your AFib diagnosis. I have had AFib since my early 30’s
I’m now in my 60’s. It’s scary at first for sure just wrapping your head around that kind of a diagnosis out of the Blue is overwhelming.
But I assure you with the right medications life goes on pretty much the same.
My cardiologist knows my cruise addiction and has no problem with me continuing to do so. My hope is you get comfortable with it and continue to do what you love to.
Wishing you all the best
Thank you for this wonderful post it surely is full of hope.

It is a wait and see game now.Lets get rid of Covid19 plus a vaccination added then talk again.

Although this is now 'Off the subject' I just had to butt in.
Nobody has come up with another reason why a Doctor works on a cruise ship.
Could the reason be he/she love their career and also cruising and the sea life ?

Wow I am sorry if folks are feeling upset........That's not good for my heart you know.😉
Anyway due to mixed reaction I did phone Princess again. This gal was extremely honest and told me just earlier this week the 'Under chronic conditions' was taken off the list. There again she said she did not have an answer for me and to contact when our wonderful Covid 19 has decided to push off to another planet and leave ours alone I made this last bit up by the way😏. So they really don't have the answer yet. At least there is hope in the future I can again sit on deck reading my Patterson mystery ,watch the waves and folks pass by.

Hi, my wife was diagnosed with AF in Dec 18 after she was taken to hospital suffering from chest pains, after a spell in hospital she was discharged and was prescribed a betablocker bisoporol and blood thinners, after various tests in the following months she was told she would have to have a cardioversion. On the day she went on to have it they did a ecg first and said because her heart wasn't in AF they couldn't do the procedure so was sent home,.
We saw her consultant a few weeks later and he said she to the medication she no longer had AF , we told him we had applied for travel insurance a d told them about the AF and the premium was way to high to we didn't bother booking a holiday however the consultant told us to tell the insurance company she is no longer in AF which we did and got a much better quote.
We were on the last cruise of the Crown in March and when we booked it last year there was no reason to mention the AF , so I wonder if it's worth speaking to your consultant to see if you could go down the same route.
My AF is under control take medications twice a day.The doctor told me one can still get it again under medication so it cannot be cured it is a chronic condition.Once you have you can get again.

Were you seeking a refund of your future cruise credits and this was how it was arranged by mentioning the A fib? Not making any judgements, just wonder how the whole scenario came about.
From our expereience the Princess reps are not the most informed in many situations and certainly not in a position to decide which illness/conditions would preclude one from sailing?I Had read the rulings and wondered if they applied me although mine is managed by medication. The representative with more hesitations responded straight away I would be denied boarding

A lot of people don't even know they have a heart condition and it can be very hard to detect it. Sometimes it can need as much as internal scan with a camera done under sedation.
OK I did not know I had a heart condition......i had been getting flutterings during the nite which always cooled down.Thought it natural.
While actually in hospital with a Gastro Enteritis where I had actually passed out at home taken to hospital i woke up one morning with a fluttering in my chest which didnot go away and rang for nurse.....They immediately gave me oxygen I V's, Electrocardiogram ,portable X rays.
I told nurse I did not want to die,she answered we are trying our best......Is that proof enough for you?

I would highly suggest that you or your TA contact Princess immediately and speak with someone with more authority. If every person with a heart ailment were denied boarding they would be out of a lot of passengers.
It comes under their ' Other Underlying chronic conditions.' Would be denied boarding.

OP; can you explain a little further please; did you develop this condition recently and it hasn't been treated yet?, Has you physical recommended you not travel? Did Princess make the decision that you were not physically fit to travel?
Thanks
I developed the condition this year in January 2020.It was Princess's Representatives decision I have not mentioned this to my doctor.

This was The Princess Representative ,I called Princess direct.
She said 'You would be denied boarding' her exact words.
She personally filled out and sent off form for cruise credit refund.
I am on heart Meditation twice a day twice which controls it.
-
Will no longer be allowed to board due to Atrial Fibrillation of my heart...Would be denied boarding permanently.
Princess refunding my future cruise credits.

None of you have thought you may not be getting your refunds because Princess might have run out of money.?

It was reported I just remembered they said ship was rocking side to side instead of to and fro

It was a 15 day cruise Vancouver Hawaii and return on Star Princess.
First day at sea had breakfast,it was rocky. Sitting at back of Princess theater around 9.00 AM lecture on Hawaii in the disabled section at the back for I have a mobility issue. All of a sudden I felt nauseated and went to the nearest washroom that was the start no advance warning.

All I know is that injection they give one in the medical is worth the money for after my wheelchair back to cabin and a little sleep I was in heaven again felt so good and HUNGRY.

"Then debarking day in Vancouver harbor I was in the washroom again wooping up" You were in port?
We were in port but not anchored yet.

Have traveled many times over the years in different weather conditions with Princess and was seasick once. This last year traveled twice first on Royal Los Angeles via San Diego to Vancouver BC no seasickness at all. Then boarded Star and first day out of Vancouver Hawaii return was violently seasick so bad that medical put me ahead of line up because I was wooping it up. Then debarking day in Vancouver harbor I was in the washroom again wooping up.
Do the stabilizers on the older ships weaken in time.Or is it the new technology on the new ship that my stomach tolerates better?,

When it boils down there is absolutely nothing we folks that know about the past can do about it.
Princess is owned by Carnival who cater on the whole to the budget minded passenger.
For Club Class to charge so much more and only offer a couple of alternatives to the regular menu??
One either pays $29 a night for Crown Grill or disappointment.
In old age one of the delights is eating a great meal some else has prepared and no dish washing.
-
I started sailing with Princess 2001.I personally have noticed the last couple of times which was this year first Royal Princess then the older Star Princess that the food in main dining room is not up to the standard it used to be.Even the desert menu does not have the choices,I spent most of my evenings in Crown Grill paying $29 per shot.I pay the single for my own balcony cabin so two persons food.
Princess keeps having Sales gimmicks to sell cabins alot more than it ever used to do and now many more can enjoy cruising whereas years ago only those with well lined pockets could enjoy.Something has to give.
Yes they have Club Class but.. those are few and far between for the more affable members.Maybe those few get the choices we all used to get.
When it comes to the domestic side of Princess the standard is still good.Although on my last cruise noticed did not get the bed turn down at night but that is of no importance.
To sum this all up . Cruising is affordable to all now but that comes at a price for the few that are used to the OLD LOVEBOAT days.

I've never left the table hungry on any Princess ship. DR or Specialty restaurant.
I preferred the old menu which also always had a better selection for deserts. Its a good thing others are not picky picky like me because MDR would be empty 😮

Don't forget about the cost of the meal you missed in the DR.
Better for me to enjoy food I love then leave a table with an empty tummy. We are all different. Rather pay more and enjoy.I love Crown Grill food it is so yummy🥰.

I remember the good old days when the food in main dining room was nicely presented ad good quality.
Spend my evenings now in Crown Grill were the food is good and nicely presented worth every cent of the $29 covercharge.

If someone is hard of hearing just keep hearing aids off. Early on I accepted a mini upgrade forward on Island Princess quite high up but over Theater Stage.
Learned my lesson, especially when band was rehearsing.
