  1. Our favorite cabin on deck 3 of the Silhoutte is #3160.  It's an inside cabin which is very close to the Passport Bar.  We have been in this cabin several times and have it booked again on the 2/14/20 cruise.  It's always quiet and easy to get from there to anyplace on the ship,  In the afternoon after getting ready for dinner, the Passport Bar area serves as a nice "living room" until my DH is ready to go.  Highly recommend.

  2. So, with all of this recent information in mind, is it better in MDR or is it more of the same? We're looking at next year and Silhouette 12 day is on our radar as a probability. We always do Select Dining, but maybe we need to look at alternatives. Any opinions about that?

We haven’t been in anything but select dining since 2013 and have had absolutely no problems on the Eclipse and Equinox. The problems on the Silhouette are baffling and really irritating. In addition, the powers in charge didn’t seem motivated to solve them.

As a result we’ve decided to not take the chance that the issues are still there when we sail on a 33 day b2b2b cruises in January and February 2019. We had our TA make the change.

  3. Well after having experienced this personally just recently and have no desire to do that again, I got my TA to change our cruises to the early seating. She was able to do that for the 1/20/19 and 2/1/19 cruises. We are waitlisted for the 2/10/19 one and it should clear. 33 days going through that mess of select dining was not going to happen.

  4. We also were on the Silhouette 1/14-1/26 sailing. We’ve done select dining dozens of times on the Eclipse and Equinox. This was our first time on Silhouette. In fact we sailed on Equinox in mid-October 2017. We never made reservations on any of those cruises and usually dined early. Our experience was that it worked wonderfully. Not so on the Silhouette. It was a cluster f.... every evening. I spoke with the Maitre D on the third night and was told it was because of people asking questions and holding up the line but it would get better. It never did. By this time we had found the wait staff we wanted to eat with and the waiter said to just bypass the line and he would check us in. Told us that it was the Maitre D’s suggestion. I know that wasn’t true but we took them up on it. My husband was having difficulties standing for any length of time and this solved the problem. BTW we bypassed the line at 5:30 and went straight to the table. Fortunately for all concerned it was only a few steps passed the entrance.

Our waiter said to thank the Maitre D and I gave him the thumbs up sign one of the nights. Got to play politics I guess.

We are scheduled to be on Silhouette next January on a b2b2b and I’m not looking forward to a tussle over dining for 33 days. Hope they get their act together before then.

  5. This is the first time of our needing a wheelchair to get on the ship. A while back I spoke to the Special Needs Dept for Celebrity and reserved a chair for boarding the Silhouette tomorrow. However I should have asked how I go about getting the chair at the port. Unfortunately the department is closed so they’re no help. Does anyone have any information for me? Thanks.

  6. Can anyone tell me which, if any, bars on the sillouhette can make a margarita on the rocks with freshly squeezed juices or from scratch? Thanks :)

The World Bar can make a margarita with the fresh lime juice. That’s the only bar that I know for sure will make it with fresh ingredients.

  7. Because of construction in the terminal Silhouette used to prepare it for the new Edge. Temporary, but most annoying to those affected. Those impacted were given $25 OBC for their inconvenience.

How long is this going to last? We sail on 1/14/18.

  8. I received an email this morning from X promoting "Save up to 20% on exciting shore excursions and more for your upcoming cruise." You may need to have a current booking to have received it. In any case, after exploring the sale with 'cruise planner," something isn't quite right.

On the one hand I'm excited because the drink packages are 25% off the usual price and that will be a good deal for my booking. Yes, 25% not 20% :p

On the other hand, when I look at some of the discounted excursions, the price is exactly the same as it was previously. I can tell because I took some notes a month ago on which excursions interested us for budgeting purposes. I'm specifically looking at some Costa Maya excursions that are the exact same price, despite having a big 20% off label and a sign next to the price that says, "Price Reflects Your Discount." I tried adding it to the cart to see if the price changed, but it did not.

I'll need to call X later and see what they say, but just beware that the discount may not be what it appears to be.

If you’re interested you can get a Buy One and get a second package at 50% off. This applies to the Premium and Classic Alcohol packages only. This is per the Captains Club.

  9. We are looking forward to our first Celebrity Cruise. While cruising on other cruise lines, we have had to get up at the crack of dawn to get our seats by the pool due to them being very crowded. Will we find this with the Eclipse pool?

    On sea days, probably.
