Good morning (my time) from the Caribbean Princess. Today is a leisurely day at sea as we head to Akeuryi. Getting ready at the moment to head to Sabatinis for breakfast. So this suite perk has been outstanding as foor/service has been great. Later today Holli has a massage appointment while I will b attending the Matrid's wine tasting. I also plan to hit the gym for a workout.

    Hope All Are Well......:):):)

    Bob,

Enjoy that colder weather now as it has been over 100 degrees for a day or so all over S. Ca. Hopefully by the time you are home, it will all be over. We have been very fortunate in that there was only one major fire and that was yesterday in La Habra. It was not too far from where I live.

You never did tell us how the first formal night went. Was there anything spectacular on the menu ? And most importantly did your tux fit?

Enjoy yourself and keep those updates coming .

Seems like several of us who are on the December Princess Anniversary cruise are following you along on this adventure.

    Relax and enjoy.

  3. Bob,

Forgot to tell you that the road from London to Southampton may be very busy on Saturday. Several weeks ago there was bumper to bumper traffic for a great deal of the way. Took way longer than it has in the past to get to Southampton. And everyone is anxious to get there and get on the ship. And there were lots of people sleeping on the bus down.

Hope it is better this weekend when you are making the trip. On the plus side, when we got to the port, check-in was a breeze for Elites and others.

  4. Good morning everyone from London. Just woke up (0752GMT) after a very good night of sleep. My plan for today is to make use of the Hotel's fitness center. After that I plan to do a little sightseeing to take some pictures. Gave my DW strict orders to rest up so she will be able to better enjoy our day trip to Paris which is tomorrow. Right now there are a few light clouds and it is a nice 52 degrees (11c).

    Hope all are well.....:):):)

    Bob

Sounds like great weather as long as the rain stays away. Will be interested to hear about your day in Paris after tomorrow.

  5. Hello from the beautiful city of London. We finally got to our hotel (Doubletree Westminster). Traffic getting out of Heathrow was very heavy. The car service I hired and I also got our wires crossed which delayed us getting away from the airport for about 45 minutes. The hotel is pretty nice with the room being a little on the small side. Overall not a bad place. Right now I'm a little tired so probably going to relax and hang out. One quick note about the flight. We flew Upper Class on Virgin Atlantic. We were on an Airbus 340-600. As far as the flight crew goes, they were some of the best we've ever had; especially this very sweet young lady from Liverpool. She was a true gem. As far as Upper Class goes, I have to say that I was not all that impressed with it. The whole area seems rather claustrophobic as the seats seemed sandwiched together. The seat is arguably one of the most uncomfortable seats I've sat in. Don't get me wrong, I liked the flight overall just disappointed with the seat. .

    Hope all are well.....:):):)

    Bob

Sorry to hear that it was disappointing. I must say even the regular seats on British Airways were fantastic. Really enjoyed the plane, the storage on the plane and the seats.

  6. Just wanted to let everyone know what we are doing while during our stay in London. We are staying at the Hilton Doubletree Westminster. After we get over the jet lag, we plan to explorer the Westminster area. On September 3rd, we are taking a day trip to Paris that I booked on Viator. The night before we head to Southampton and the CB, I arranged a pre cruise Meet & Greet dinner for several roll call members at a Westminster restaurant called "The Loose Box Bar." I'm looking forward to having a blast while we are in London and during our day trip to Paris......:):):)

    Bob

Hope that you arranged for the Chunnel to take you to Paris like I did earlier this month. Long day but so interesting.

Sounds like you have some full days planned. Know it will all be enjoyable. You may want to go through Viator for a ride on the London Eye too. Be sure to get a Skip the Line pass. It worked out great for us. Also consider the one day Hop On, Hop Off bus. You can see everything in London. Very comprehensive tour and lots of history info.

  7. :D You Are The BEST! Thanks so much!

    You are so very welcome.

And I want to clarify for anyone reading this thread that these are just my opinions. There are no hard and fast rules as to how to run a Slot Pull. My opinions are based strictly on what has worked and what has not worked for me in the past. Initially I participated many years ago in a Slot Pull run by another person; my first one. I thought it was done very poorly and thought it all out as to how to improve the activity and make it better for all involved. Then started organizing them on my cruises and it has worked out great for everyone.

  8. Hi Ann,

I am helping out with the Slot Pull on the Crown Princess in Oct/Nov and want to THANK YOU so very much for all the information you have shared with Mike to date.

I have your spread sheet and all seems straight forward....I have one question. Did you allow sign ups after the cruise began or only pre-cruise on RC?

    I am soooo appreciative! :D

    Roxanne

    Roxanne,

I do allow people to join who were on the RC and failed to sign up in advance. They may tell me at the Meet and Greet that they reconsidered and want to join in the fun. What I do not allow is someone just walking through the Casino who may see that we are doing well, inquire as to what is going on and want to join. unless they are part of Cruise Critic in advance, I do not let them in. That has happened a few times during a Slot Pull and I advise those "party crashers" that this is only for Cruse Critic people.

  9. There were 5 of you who wanted my information on the Slot Pull and put in your request while I was gone. I have sent the email to each of you and if there are any questions, you now have my email address so you can get back yo me with any questions.

Have fun with this on your cruise.

Just got back from the Baltic region (had great weather and so much fun). We did have a Slot Pull but only 22 participated. That is not a bad number but the more than are involved the more fun it is. We each got back $11 do that was not bad and we had way more than $4 worth of fun.
