A very short video I shot of one of the lock doors opening.
That was cool!

As a burn surviver, I have to very careful in the sun. I can even burn through windows! (exactly how is that possible?)
I wear long-sleeved shirts and a wide-brim Tilley hat (love that thing!). Chapstick with sunblock and SPF 30-45. I found a great cream that combines bug and sun protection for my legs/feet at the beach (no fly/flea bites!). And I stay out of the sun, at all possible, between 11 and 2.
If I do get burned...my got-to for relief is cortizone cream with aloe. Removes the inflamation and itch and moisturizes!
What's the name of the combo bug/sun protection?

You can purchase OBC by calling Gifts & Gear at (800) 722-5443. Have your booking number and credit card handy. The item number for OBC is 651, if needed. I suggest getting a receipt for your purchase emailed to you, and take a copy with you on the cruise- just in case. The OBC is fully refundable should you have any remaining at the end of your cruise. Enjoy Bermuda! :)
I plan to do this. Can I pull cash from that as needed like on port days or do I have to wait until the end of the cruise to get any remaining balance refunded to me?

My husband & I hope to do a full transit from west to east someday. Looking forward to following your journey.

Thanks everyone! I am thinking I may go ahead & book what we all agreed on for my husband & me and then cancel if it turns out we all can't do the excursion. I understand I can cancel 24 hrs prior to the excursion & my money is refunded, is that correct?

The group (8) I am sailing with has differing opinions on whether to prebook excursions or wait until we get on board. We have only cruised with carnival. We are doing western Caribbean in Feb 2014. What are your thoughts and/or experiences on this subject?

Great recommendations! I developed a sun allergy (medication induced) about 30 years ago. The first 20+ years of my life I tanned easily. Living in AZ has its challenges. I slather on 50+ including my part & ears, cover up & a big hat (sometimes an umbrella) and I'm good to go. My husband must protect too & he has coolibar 50+ SPF shirts that work great, light & breezy. Going to order one (a cover up big shirt) for myself for the caribbean cruise!!

Ditto what cflower said. Also' date=' tell your folks back home not to call or text you unless it's an emergency. i have at&t and they have an international texting plan we usually get so we can stay in touch with the kids on the ship. it's $20 for 50 texts per phone. by turning off cell data & voice mail and only using text we have never had any surprise charges.[/quote']
I know how to turn cellular data off but how do you turn off voice mail?

We thought the same thing, that the Flowrider was nice for younger and more agile cruisers. We were surprised at how much we enjoyed watching others use the Flowrider even though it wasn't something we could partake in. It was quite entertaining!
I will be sailing on her from Galveston in late Feb & can't wait to watch my son (almost 40 years old) do the flowrider (says he's gonna do it) & I will LOL.

That stuff really comes in handy when dealing with unruly kids!:D
Why not just leave the underwear at home and go "commando style"?

Only been on 2 previous short cruises but plan to combine must do's and add a few. Have 1 or 2 Drambuie every night at whatever lounge/bar I am in. Buy Christmas ornament. Have soft serve chocolate ice cream daily. Play shuffle board...learned to play last year w/6 & 10 year old grandkids & had a blast!
