We originally had a deck 11 aft ph with large balcony but switched to deck 10 when we were told no hot tub on deck 11. Finding out we’d given up the deck 11 aft ph that actually does have the hot tub stung. I was offered $250 obc after I provided the original booking description that said deck 10 had the hot tub.  We politely declined the $250 🙄 and switched to a spa balcony. Nobody ever rebooked our deck 10 room  even though they’ve decreased the price a few hundred.  It’s still available for our September 13th sailing. The upgrade bidding starts are crazy high! Pretty sure we’re content with our spa balcony and several thousand extra in our pockets. We have a deck 12 aft os for the ta - fingers crossed it’s just an omission on deck plans for 10, 13 and 15.

    I meant 12, 13 and 15.

I think they started sales really early on and at some point realized deck 10 cant support the hot tub but deck 11 can.  Deck 11 rooms were originally much lower $. The pricing on those deck 11 rooms now reflects the hot tubs. We have one booked on the Viva and paid considerably more for it than the initial prima offering. Strange they don’t consider it an os

Wow... that is small. I booked my sister, BIL and their 2 kids in a family OV cabin for next September. This definitely does NOT look like the renderings. Maybe this is a crew only 'smaller' OV room?

I may need to reconsider and save up some more money to move them into something bigger...

Let’s hope that’s a different room type and not a what I ordered and what I got situation 😂.

on my updated confirmation there is a list of " promo codes " in the top left corner , everything " PLUS " and all my TA add ons are all shown there , when I go to " Upgrades " on my NCL page reservation it states all up grades have been purchased , BUT it will allow me to purchase a second soda package for the teens on our reservation 😂

Do u know what the promo code for this upgrade is? My pcc doesn’t see one available.

  5. Ironically we don’t benefit from the alcohol package so never take it but we might benefit from adding the beverage package and then doing this upgrade.  Our port intensive Europe sailing we have booked ship excursions each day except one sea day.  We also have purchased upgrade dining packages, upgrade to internet and purchased soda package in lieu of fas beverage pkg.  In addition to that we each purchase two Starbucks each day and a couple bottles of pelligrino. I figure that getting this package will be less than all the upgrades we already have and then we each have internet instead of sharing the one upgrade I purchased.

our booking came with the bev pkg but we declined it and purchased soda pkg which might be why my pcc doesn’t see the code to add it to my booking. Now I just need to see about unwinding what we already purchased to move into this plan.

  6. Any recommendations on the cabana rental over the vibe pass?  We’re sailing on the Prima soon and for our sailing the vibe passes are higher priced than listed above but the cabana prices are a little less than the list posted here. The cabana price is $70 more than the vibe pass on the sept 13th (10) night sailing. I know we have no way of knowing what a cabana entails on the prima but I assume they will be similar to the free cabanas they have in most Haven outside areas. So vibe cabana typically gets you your own dedicated lounge in an area with plenty of lounge space?

At 130 days we should be able to book Specialty dining, right? (Haven). We have 119 days to go, fully paid now yet all of the restaurants are showing no reservations are available. Booked up? I find that hard to believe. What am I doing wrong here? Thank you in advance for any help 😊

Call pre cruise concierge.  They booked my prima dining at all venues I was interested in.  Some days it was either late or early as the only availability but I waited till we’ll under 100 days prior to sailing before I called.

The Bird has booked inaugural cruises and got cancelled multiple times because the cruise line wanted to do more media cruises. (The Bird had two cruises in 2019 cancelled due to additional publicity cruises - Inaugural Encore and first voyage of the new Joy - for both cancellations, we got nothing other than a refund)

Just keeping it honest- the encore sailing you reference was scheduled for November 17, 2019. Ncl canceled it in January 23, 2019, 10 months prior to sailing. They offered passengers 15% off another sailing, full refund and offer to cover airfare loss up to $300 pp.

The Prima cancellation is past final payment.  Granted your cancellation was pre COVID so a different world.  Just trying to keep the facts straight.  Passengers were not offered “nothing” and it was not a last minute cancellation.

25% is a nice gesture. Except a potential replacement sailing on The Epic, for September that I priced out last week jumped in price about 40% since last week. The 25% gesture won’t make up for price hikes like that.

  9. I’m booked on the 13th and subsequent TA.  I’m looking at some alternative ideas now on how to salvage if one or both of those sailings are canceled. I purchased independent travel insurance which was almost 2k. I’d prefer to transfer this expensive policy to another equally $$$ vacation on the Viva or something next year but that wont work after final payment deadlines. I’m hopeful that if they are canceling any further sailings they are able to decide prior to final payments which are just around the corner. The airlines have thankfully been more flexible since COVID so not so concerned about losses on hotels or our independent airfare.  Mostly just the insurance policy and disappointment. These two cruises are really expensive! More expensive than anything I’ve ever spent on a Haven sailing by a long shot.  I’d prefer it if all is in order when we sail.

  10. Thanks for your excellent review. I love the Jade for the Mediterranean.  Just right sized.  We sailed that room type right out of dry dock in 2017?  they had covered the mirror walls.  Problem was the replacement panels were very squeaky at night.  So noisy that We ended up sleeping on the living room sofa one rough seas night.  Looks like they’ve since removed the panels and it’s back to mirrors.

  11. The prices have always been all over the board.  I remember seeing the Jade garden villa two week med in 2016 selling for 64k (double occupancy) - just depends on itinerary and who’s willing to pay.  I’m sure once Prima starts sailings out of Florida, they’ll be price drops. The TA will likely have some cancellations and a few haven suites opening around final payment.  I’m guessing bidding will have to be strong and even then it’ll be difficult to win a Haven bid.  Getting the best price on airfare, hotels, cruises… has been very unpredictable since Covid.  Frustrating for sure. I just figure everything everywhere is just going to cost a ridiculous amount anymore. We paid $178 to get a family of five take out mixed plate in Hawaii a couple weeks ago.  Service was surly, It was junk and nobody even ate it.

I've been trying to upgrade to the unlimited premium wi-fi (with streaming) for $119.93 since this weekend for our March 27 Bliss Cruise and it just won't go through.  Any ideas why?

Try purchasing it through “my summary”. If that doesn’t work then call your ta or pcc.

  13. Thanks. I had no idea this was a trademark of Fjord Tours.
We have been to Bergen and Alesund on a cruise.

This cruise has Norway port days for

    OSLO, 9am-5pm
    KRISTIANSAND, 7am-3:30pm
    BERGEN, 9:15am-5pm
    GEIRANGER, 8am-10pm
    ALESUND, 7am-5pm

My husband loves trains so was trying to incorporate the Flam railway somehow.  I’m looking at Fjord Tours website and their Norway in a Nutshell does not fit into our Bergen day.

  14. I don’t see this excursion as an option to book on my Prima September 13th sailing however I see ncl often has “Norway in a nutshell” on offer in the past.  NCL’s version sounds like an abbreviated option to fit into the port day.  We’re in Bergen from 9:15am - 5pm so I wouldn’t feel comfortable trying to book unless through the ship.

Question- has anyone booked this excursion through ncl and if so do you remember how far in advance it was offered?  I’m hoping for it to come available but have booked something else for now as a backup.

  15. The more I see the more excited I am.  It does look like there’s some outside seating spa deck 15 forward. I sailed Alaska this past August.  The forward outside Haven deck on Encore in roughly the same area as Prima spa forward deck was very usable till our last day at sea with rain and wind.  Looks like the gym gets the front window views on 16 and we also get an observation lounge and bar forward on 17.  I’m also thrilled to have different pool areas dispersed around the ship instead of one big loud crowd.

We’re booked for 22 nights on the Prima in September.  I purchased a supplemental dining package just in order to get to try out all the venues.  I read they’re not certain the dining packages will be valid for all venues but I figure enough will be.  Hopefully  prima  aft rooms being set further in will solve the vibration issues in aft staterooms.  I’m not crazy about what looks like a pretty small haven area serving a large number of rooms but if the rest of the ship actually flows as well as it looks like it will, seems passengers will have more choices than ever of incredible places to be and things to do for free and pay that don’t involve clustering everyone into a couple jam packed spaces.

It’s too late for me to edit. I just reread what I wrote above and I don’t like how that comes across. What I should have written was something along the lines of…

If you truly believe ncl will be “just fine”, at $17 a share perhaps it’s a good time for you to consider investing (if you haven’t yet done so).

    I initially purchased at $7.20.

  17. This rhetoric about NCL and Frank Del Rio sounds very familiar to what I read about Bob Chapek and Disney. You read the same speculations in forums that Disney is going under …. All just wild speculation from strangers on an Internet forum.

There’s a particular pessimism on these forums that no matter what, seems convinced the cruise industry is doomed.  They’ve had a terrible couple years but their future as well as travel in general is poised to really take off this year.

Most of my friends are booked on cruises, trips to Hawaii, vacations in Italy… people are sick of hunkering down, sick of all the pessimism and are done with COVID.  I’m betting ncl does just fine.
