  1. OMG....No yellow mustard on my recent Mariner Asia cruise in the WJ....I asked about it and they said they would try to find some (I assumed they would just put some out).... that evening they delivered enough yellow mustard to my cabin (shocked) to last my entire cruise..said to keep it as they weren't going to put it out in the WJ didn't have enough and it wasn't popular on these itineraries...but they wanted to make sure I would always have it...so every time I went to the WJ my DH would keep some packets in his pants pocket for me.....Funny...but just shows you being kind and polite in your requests can produce some great responses.....We laughed as we thought on that cruise I was being referred to as the "Mustard Lady" :D

Thanks for sharing the positive experience.

  2. Personally we love San Juan, so we always try to include some extra time.

Our last cruise, we flew in the day before and spent the day in Old San Juan. On our return, we also stayed an extra day, but this time in the Condado area. Two totally different views of San Juan.

Might be something to think about!

This is a great idea. Next time I sail out of San Juan I'm going to try it.

  3. Even if the cabin will sleep another, there's no guarantee they will allow it...there are more "berths" than they allow bodies onboard....lifeboat numbers, you know....

This has happened to us. We booked 14 months in advance two adjoining inside cabins with 4 adults and 4 kids. One of the adults dropped out because of a job related issue. Then before final payment we wanted to add her back into our cabin, because there was the open berth for her. We couldn't add her because there were already to many bodies on board.

  4. Congratulations! Your wedding cruise sounds delightful! I'm glad you like the Spirit.

NCL Spirit is my least favorite NCL ship. I have been on Southward which was my first cruise, so I have a very biased opinion of Southward. Other NCL ships include: Crown, Sky, Sun, Majesty, Pearl, and Jewel.

I have been in suites on Majesty in 2008, Pearl in 2012, and Jewel 2014. NCL provides a wonderful suite experience. I especially enjoy breakfast and lunch in the specialty restaurant for suite guests.

Your delightful attitude is uplifting. Will you try to be a part of the Marriage show?

  5. The Empress of the Seas was our favorite RCCL ship. We were on one of the last sailing of the ship (Philadelphia to Bermuda) before she was booted from the fleet. She had already undergone "improvements" to bring her in line with other RCI ships.

Gone were the lounge areas on each cabin deck next to the open Atrium. They had been replaced by children play areas, a game area (the game room and library having been taken over by a pay for restaurant) and various other functions that had been squeezed out of their dedicated areas by an increase in the number of cabins.

It seems a lot of ships in various cruise lines have turned public areas into specialty restaurants and cabins.

Does the Empress have balconies? Newer ships have lots of balconies which passengers enjoy.
