  1. Thank you for the fantastic review Greg.  It has brought back many memories in looking at your pictures of my cruise on Jewel in June.  I appreciate you commentary and agree with your conclusions.  I had a great time on the Jewel and liked going from Anchorage to Vancouever to see some different locations, but overall I prefer the Breakaway+ and even *gasp* Leonardo ships on the NCL fleet to Jewel.  I thought the overall entertainment in Jewel was lacking between the productions shows themselves as well as the daily activities that were going on.  I appreciate on a ship like Bliss having multiple options at night between the theater show, Beatles/Cavern Club show, comedy shows, music in different areas, atrium activities, etc.

  2. With NCL, you are at the mercy of Sports24 and what they are offering on TV.  Soccer, cricket, tennis seem to get a priority.  Sailing during the American football season, you had 1 early NFL game (1:00 PM Eastern Kickoff), 1 late NFL game (4:25PM Eastern Kickoff) and then the national broadcasts on Sunday Night and Monday Night.  College football/basketball was non esistent except I was on board for the Final Four once and they showed that at the Local (O'Sheanans equivalent) and in the atrium tv.

  3. Would seem like the days of the bigger ships having two Broadway style productions on the ship are over with Bliss now dropping Six.

I am interested to see what is put on the Joy and Breakaway as those are larger ships that IMO deserve something more than an usual style cruise production.

  4. Just off of Jewel on P+ on Monday.  Veuve was available by the glass at Le Bistro and included with P+.  Pommery was offered at Magnum's bar, Cagney's and Tsar but not available when I inquired at the other MDR and La Cucina.  Grey Goose was not available at some of the common bars like the Waves bar.  Belvedere was still available at Shakers but was sparse according to the bartenders.  Higher end whisky available on P+ was mostly confined to Maltings although Spinnaker did have Whistle Pig.

  5. I am sorry this happened to you.

I have a similar situation that I am involved in now.  Leaving from ATL>Anchorage and requested 1 day deviation before.  Did this with the initial booking prior to 75 days of sail date.  Flights come and it has me arriving into Anchorage at 4:00 PM on the day of the cruise with a layover.  Called immediately and got same spiel that it would have to be escalated etc.  I called a few times and received same update and then was told 10 days out to call and they could send an email to a manager.  I did that today as we are 10 days from sail and the email was sent but was told that they "may" not be able to accommodate. I asked why since I have done everything I should have in the process and was told that this close to sail date, the prices have went substantially up.  I again reiterated that I called the day I received my flights and was not responded to with any resolution. The whole experience has been awful.

  6. Sorry if this has been answered before but when I go in to redeem via cruise discounts, it'll say $150 ($75 per person), $200 ($100 per person), etc.  If I am travelling solo and have a $200 redemption, could I use that entire amount against my final payment of an upcoming cruise?

  7. Dover Sole at Le Bistro:  Had this twice since they changed the menu and got rid of the old Filet and it is fantastic. Lemon Caper butter brings out a lot of rich flavor.

Short Ribs at Onda: This was my favorite app on my last trip. The farro risotto was perfectly cooked and complimented the ribs which were fall off the bone tender.

Tuna Poke Nachos at Food Republic: Saw this recommended on a random thread here and gave them a shot.  Perfect lunch food to pair with a sushi roll of your choice.

  8. I am in the same boat. Had two cruises cancelled and emailed about refund possibility. Got the "refund will be processed" email and then nothing. Now I have a cruise stopping in Cozumel Thanksgiving week and I emailed them to see if they could apply the deposit to that sailing. Still no response. Its unbelievable poor customer service at this point.
