  1. We have stayed in PS on the Caribbean Princess next to the "dreaded vent" and it was no issue at all. Sometimes a faint white noise sound but the wake sound was louder - and better.

We have also stayed in a VS on the Grand (same deck and c adjacent to the PS we stayed in on the CB) and the "dreaded beam" was also not an issue. Yes, we noticed it and sometimes had to walk around it but there are so many positives we didn't care about the one so-called negative. And, after all, while you get the beam you do so for a lower price than a PS so we considered the beam paid for our excursions.

Bottom line: if you have the budget a PS is better but if you want to save the difference or spend it elsewhere a VS is still a great choice.

  2. At the beginning of our cruise history I used to have a bag for months ahead filling it with new toiletries, etc. Clothes sorted out weeks before and hanging on a temporary clothes line.

I've read from some frequent cruisers they have a drawer dedicated to cruise apparel, irems, etc. so when it's packing time they just pull the stuff out of the drawer and it goes right into the suitcase. Then add some other items to it and they're ready to go. Very clever!

  3. Dear NEW 2 CRUISIN ... would appreciate your letting us know ... when you return from your cruise next weekend ... whether the 1st formal night is held on the First or Second sea day after embarkcation, that is, on Sunday or Monday. We will be on the Ruby in March. Thank you. Have a great cruise!

Word seems to be it is generally the second season day. I believe, however, that is typically at the Captain's discretion.

  4. Yes! Yes! Yes! In fact, I get excited just thinking about booking before even booking and the excitement grows daily.

I agree it's more exciting now than the first one as I didn't know what to expect and look so forward to.

I also check our personalizer multiple times a week, print boarding passes and luggage tags the first day available (makes it seem so real...), etc.

And, yes, I research, research, and research and talk about it with DW constantly and she rolls eyes and eventually forbids me yakking about it . . . so then I just think about it constantly instead! [emoji4]

  5. And keep in mind the current asset (space) can be re-purposed to something else with some window dressing and signage change. So Share's life may be determined by Princess wishes, contract termination terms, and avoiding/spinning perception of a "failure" as much as anything else.

  6. Enforcement varies. It has a lot to do with the temperament of the matre'd. If you follow the rules, you will encounter no issues, but shirt, tie and slacks should, I repeat should, not be a problem. I've dressed as such on formal nights and not been given any hassle. The only missing item was a jacket, and I take that off to eat anyway.

I agree. And I also often times take my jacket off upon sitting down.

  7. Once upon a time 1991 on the old Crown Princess they had a swim up pool bar. There would be adults pounding drinks all day and I never saw anyone leave to use the bathroom. After that I have avoided pools with swim up bars.

Ewwww! Darn those closed-looped systems! [emoji26]

Think we'll never visit a swim-up bar pool again (although we generally avoid public pools anyway).

  8. FWIW, for those commenting on the center staircase issue with Royal/Regal - it's been remedied on Royal, and will be remedied on Regal at her drydock this coming year.... Royal now has a center passenger staircase. Regal will get hers soon..

Always cracks me up though, when in compared to Celebrity especially, as Celebrity only has two banks on stairs all the way up and down all the decks, and only two banks of elevators also - as compared to Princess with three elevator banks and stairs at all three (except Regal and Grand)....

We certainly appreciate the convenience factor and the benefit/need for those who are mobility restricted but for us our cruise experience is not defined by staircases (or lack thereof).
