  1. Favorite splurge on cruise;

    1 BALCONY cabin

    2 Pre-or Post cruise Hotel

2 Excursions, the more adventureous the better, dolphin swim, zip line, para-sail, cave tubing, snorkling....

3 Favorite souveniers- jewelry, sleep-shirts- with pockets (works as bathing suit coverup or lounging around the house, and a great memory of cruise); Or purchasing bathrobes to take home from our cruise,

    AND LOTS of PICS....

  2. You never know which side of the ship will be facing the pier. In Falmouth a few weeks ago the port side was next to the pier. Just depends which pier we dock at and if the Captain backs in or pulls straight in.

In Grand Cayman there is a coffee shop that all the crew go to for the internet - it is a block back off the main street. In Cozumel I think there may be a new one at the new Royal Mall across the street, if not, you can always walk down to the Puerta Maya pier, Carnival, - walk out to main street, turn rt and walk about 2 blocks, pier is on your right - there is a coffee shop and Panchos Backyard lets you use their internet if you purchase something.

But, like I said, ask the crew - they know where all the internet cafe's are located.

Thank you for this! Really do appreciate learning everything we can, before we get there!

    THANK YOU!

  3. What side of the ship is facing the pier in Cozumel? Love to watch the drunk people running down the pier at the last moment.

I'd like to know this as well. I'll be on a balcony, starboard....

LOVING, loving, loving this thread! Thank you so much, to everyone, especially to Seaofwonder!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! So much fun info and anticipation for our next cruise on the Navigator, later this year.

    THANK YOU!!!!!!

  4. In Falmouth you can buy an internet card at one of the kiosks. It's $10 for the day. Our balcony was facing the pier and we used it all afternoon:)

Thank you for this info. I THINK our balcony is facing the pier as well. We are starboard, was yours?

Very cool, thanks so much for the quick replies! You all are awesome!

    Thank you!

  5. Would anyone here happen to know where we might find internet access in Coz? Just checking, before we get there!

Also interested to know about internet in Falmouth and Grand Cayman (George Town I think it is, with Nav, right?)....

LOVE all these boards, reviews, pics and info. Awesome, awesome- loving it- while we look forward to the Navigator later this year.

Thank you, SOOOOO MUCH, to everyone, especially BecciBoo!!!!!

    THANK YOU!!!!!!!

  6. It's a toss up for me; Last cruise we ate (table for 4) with a very nice, fun couple. I thought it might be "awkward", but turned out well, as we had much in common (surprisingly to us). This next time we cruise, I am torn to be assigned to "whatever" and see what happens OR request a table for two. We are a bit "shy'; friendly but shy. My biggest inhibition, is that I want to try different foods; Perhaps two appetizers or main entrees, OR desserts just because I can and I enjoy trying new foods (especially when it's free). Hubby and I will order diff things and share, if we feel so inclined. It feels embarrassing, but also very rewarding : ) This is part of the fun we enjoy and look forward to, on our cruise.

So, if we call RCCL- close to sailing, will they tell us what we have (table wise)? I'd like to know what to expect, before we get there..... I figured we would give it a try the first night, and then do something different if we are too uncomfortable... Still, I can't stop thinking about that table for two!!!!!!

  7. For us, most memorable for the ports AND since it was our first cruise, including a big family cruise- made it very special. Hard for us to top this one, again, on our budget. 7 day left San Juan, to St. Thomas, Greneda, Guadeloupe, Venezuela, and Aruba. Now we just cruise as cheaply as possible, from the nearest port- but that first one will always be our favorite one, most likely!

  8. I haven't specifically heard that the soda package can be purchased for a partial cruise, but assuming it could, it would be $6.50 per day plus 15%.

Is that all? Wow, I was thinking soda pckg was more than that. Not bad, and don't need to think about bringing soda on board anymore. Thank you for your reply!

  9. We LOVE a balcony, and it's hard to go back to inside. But, I would do that- if I got to sail "cheap enough", though.

The baloncy is the best because we love waking up to seeing our balcony, with coffee and breakfast on our balcony; Getting ready for dinner- and some wine as sun sets- on our balcony- before going to bed- the sky- moon or stars- with a nite cap- on our balcony-

Is just fabulous, and worth an extra $400, to us. We try to sail off season, find the best prices- try to get a good deal for a balcony, now that we have experienced that. Took us @4 cruises, before we discovered the balcony. It's so hard now to go back! It's nice to have that view- and fresh air- and feeling secluded-haven't had noisey neighbors and have felt the privacy of a private balcony, escaping a crowded deck. It's the BEST thing about cruising, for us!

  10. We did a little beach basket goody gift once, for first time cruisers, included some caribbean music CD, an Hawaiian lei- from dollar store; lots of fun. Also found a little travel toilet seat disposable covers, to take on excursions. They seemed to use and appreciate those the most. I just thought it was fun to fill up a basket, found a candle in a champaign glass, straws with umbrellas... just fun stuff, that reminds us of a vacation- cheap sunglasses....

  11. I'm glad you enjoyed the YouTube video! If you have any detailed questions please ask, as I've sailed on her three times.]

Thank you for being so helpful, mpoole3!

I absolutely love your cabin video, but one question. Now I am even more excited about our cruise/cabin, BUT, did not see the mini-fridge, you did have one, right? What year is this video?

I notice that you are near (?) the back of the ship. We will be up two decks and more center, cabin 9288. What are your your thoughts about ease of "navigating" the Navigator from our location? This will be the highest deck we've sailed, and looking forward to that balcony. I'm also wondering about our view of ports on starboard side, not that it matters in the least!

Thanks for your willingness to be so helpful. Very much anxious and looking forward to our sailing in a year!

And very happy to see people posting and responding about this specific ship, soon to be sailing from Galveston!

    WHOOO HOOOOO

  12. We'll be on Conquest in 34 days. Any tips or anything we should know before we board?

    Thanks,

    Malisa

Go with an open mind. In my opinion, and only IMO, I feel glad that I was not expecting a ship that resembled our others in the way of "beautiful" (lobby area). I'm sure that there are PLENTY of people who would disagree with me, that's fine. I have cruised on the Conquest twice and had a FABULOUS time, can't remember ANYTHING I would have complaint about, or even done differently. Enjoy your cruise, I feel confident that you will!

  13. marne001- We weren't suppose to access our cabin until 1:30; However, I had a hubby who was outside waiting to see me and my mom on our balcony, so we snuck inside the closed doors -found our cabin-unloaded our carry-ons and waved to hubby and son from the balcony. The staff was busy in the hallway- but only smiled and greeted us as we snuck past them. We had bulky/HEAVY carry-ons and were glad to unload!

We arrived at the port of Galveston at about 10:00 on Sunday. At 10:15 they began the documentation/security process. That went quickly (since we were early?). Then we sat and waited to board AFTER weddings and VIP (which all began at 11:15). We were on board just before noon. I thought it went fairly quickly (just too exciting to be there)! We (mom and me) are glad we got there early!!!!

If you have any questions, I'll be glad to answer-if I can...

    email: IXOYE4EVER@yahoo.com if you'd like....

For recent Conquest passengers, I have a few questions:

    • What time where you able to access your cabin? Usually it is after 1:30pm.
    • What time did CCL start boarding passengers?
    • What time did you arrive and how long would you estimate you were in the security line waiting to be screened?
    • Do you have any 'lessons learned' you would care to pass on from your past cruises?
    • When is your next cruise?

    Thanks a bunch!!!

Taking my boy friend on his first cruise and want it to be perfect for him, since he is perfect!

  14. I asked in my roll call, but no one was positive. I'm heading out on the Conquest Dec 28.

What nights are the formal nights? They thought Tues Dec 30th & Thurs Jan 1.

What night is the previous guest party?

What time is the previous guest party?

    Thanks in advance!!

    Formal: Monday and Thurs;

Past Guest- Saturday, we went at 4:00, but they had another one too, @5:30 I think.

Hope this helps. We just arrived back on Sunday. We had a blast, hate to come home- blah.

  15. I live pretty close...and in all real Galveston did not get the worst of it all. It is BAD where my aunt lived and our cabin was...Gilcrest and Crystal Beach. There is NOTHING left I MEAN NOTHING. Galveston made out pretty well. They have alot of good hotels there. Have a wonderful time...BTW....We love Arkansas....we always goto Plainview...near Russelville (sp)

We felt "lucky" to stay at the Guidos Sea Side Inn- on the sea wall, Saturday before our Cruise. It was nice, no complaints at all. We happened to get a very good rate due to the hurricane too (I guess). They offer free cruise parking, but not sure how secure it would be. We had pre-paid at E-Z cruise already.

Galveston looked good, for the most part. You can see some destruction, and piles of debris needed to be picked up, but they have made a lot of progress, most especially on the sea wall and will continue to do so. It's not back 100%, but we enjoyed our pre-cruise overnight in Galveston. It was good to be "back" since the hurricane, and to see how much they have accomplished already. It's good to see them "bouncing back"- though clearly, there is still evidence they have been through a hurricane.

  16. Anyone ever tried to put a banner or something on the balcony so you can spot it in port? I just want a pic to say, "that's our balcony"- not sure how to attatch- zip ties? rope? Anyone? We got red, white, and blue banner things for $1 each after July 4th last year. I wonder if we can use them....

We're also cruising during the Nov election.....
