  1. We are sailing the Oasis June 4, 2016.

Doesn't seem to be much talk on these boards about what precautions RCi is taking to protect us from the virus on Labadee and other islands.

There sure is a lot in the news about this issue.

  2. How much is it to have it done? My husband and sons dress shirts will be wrinkled.

Try this.....I use plastic wrap, like dry cleaner's or store plastic bags between the clothes in the garment bag. I unpack them as soon as I get them in the cabin and then hang the clothes in the shower stall with the hot water full blast to about 40 minutes.....They come out beautiful. No iron ever needed.

  3. We have BOGO for the first 2 nights. Can we purchase the 5 night dining package onboard for nights 3 through 7?

I wish I could help you....I have many questions about this dining package too. Seems not enough people know much about them. :(

  4. I just have to say. I don't like it when people jump on posters who say their opinion about a cruise. It is their experience. Good or bad. If I wanted to hear only things that are amazing. I would watch one of RCCL's commercials. I have been on MANY cruise with most all the cruise lines. Haven't found one yet that was perfect. But we almost always had a great time regardless. I want to hear what people have to say. Honestly. I don't want them to feel that they can not express their opinion on this board.

    Ditto

But what would these boards be without the thought control folk?

BTW I have been on several PERFECT cruises.

    Inside cabin or pricey suite

both great, But being in a suite... as Dudley Moore once said about being Rich...It doesn't suck!

  5. We personally stopped going to "Meal with an Officer" on the last few sailings because there was always someone complaining at the table about something, or someone probing Officers for information on whatever. Over the years, been to many cocktail receptions for suite member on various ships and sat at the Captain's table many times. What we experienced on Anthem was totally different, Anthem does not have a specific dinning room to have a Captain's Table. I could care less about sitting at the Captain's table, we're not one of those entitlement people, as someone people are, I'm not saying that you are one of them, but some people are, different strokes for different folks. I was just sharing our experience if others cruise on Anthem, that's all :)

*LIKE* You seem like a cool person! :)

  6. Wow some folk are being really hard on the OP.

Last year, and after final payment was made, we had an Allure trip one week and a Freedom the following. All payments were made in full the week prior. I called RC and asked if I could move the Freedom $$$ to a week on Allure to make it a b2b/consecutive cruise. I was placed on hold for about 20 minutes and the Rep came back saying yes they will transfer the cruise.

So yes YES they will accommodate the OP.

  7. We became Diamond Plus in 2008. It was so much fun reaching each goal. Back then they mailed the pins to us. In fact we each got three D+ pins and before that two diamond pins each. So seems RC still has issues with that stuff. Pins are fun... but really who wears them??? Our RC stuff, and there is lots, is stowed in a closet collecting dust.

Back in 2008 and after, with the Recession in full bloom, RCi was really trying to court frequent cruises and we all loved it. RC really did it well and we kept cruising. Felt privileged and proud to be with RCi . Now with Pinnacle and the strong cruise industry seems Diamond folk have been left up on the pedestal.

But that is the way it goes......RCi is for profit corporation... not a friend.

We still enjoy cruising very much.

  8. For my money, unless it is a really interesting itinerary I would stay away from the new ships for the first year. As others have indicated, there usually isn't any real WOW factor to the sailings on new ships and the is a high risk of things not going excatly the way things were planned. We were on the 3rd sailing on the Independence of the Seas and we lost propulsion for a few hours. It wasn't a problem to float around the Med for a few hours, but it does illustrate the potential issues that could occur. Celebrity will be charging a premium for the new ships, so save your money and continue to enjoy the S class ships for another year.

Yes we are always leary of a new class of ship and wait a year to check it out

  9. I guess I am just old fashioned... my grandmother always baked a cake for her special guests and celebrations....We ordered the chocolate cake for parents 50th anniversary ...It was delicious!!! Ordered birthday cake another time... Wonderful..I love RCI celebration cakes and they make a party even more special. Delicious

  10. Ok, didn't ask for opinions, just the facts. I have been on this excursion and I can tell you I wouldn't have wanted a 2,3,4,5,6 year old along when it is clearly listed as adults only. It is a half day cruise out to a sand bar and was one of the best excursions I have ever been on. I wasn't planning on sneaking any babies aboard, and to be honest if you are expecting a quiet grown-up day you may be unpleasantly surprised on the ride back to the ship!. It was more like a spring break booze cruise than anything.

I guess my question has been answered...sort of. The teens in question are 16 and 18 so I suppose one of them is considered an adult. We will probably go with our original plan of leaving the kids on the ship for the afternoon. I have been in the "adults only" solarium on many occasions, and have seen little kids...like 4-5 years old inside napping away on a lounger when I am without a seat or splashing their feet in the pool only to have my teens turned away because they are 6 months away from the cut-off. I would be very angry if I sent my kids back to the ship only to find other teens on the excursion, hence my curiosity.

    Ditto!

  11. Couple of years ago we were at Cocoa Cay at a pretty secluded part of the island sitting in beautiful waste deep water. The sea was an amazing light blue and the sky was blue and we just sat there as a few sting rays swam around us. That beautiful experience was a gift from God! THe sting rays seems to "fly" around. Everything was so cool! Wonderful experience!

  12. From what I recall, we have paid somewhere around $3500-4500 for GS in the past. Liberty in late April 2016 was over $7000. That's my version of insane. ;)

OMG.... Good luck with that one RCI!

When booking a GS I also try to stay around or under $3500-4500 esp on Freedom class. And, only get a GS or above for special sailings such as birthdays or anniv. IS any Coastal Kitchen worth an extra $3000???? EEWW

Let RCI capture that class of traveler that will spend that kind of $$$

Let us see if it is sustainable with their 22 ships.:)

  13. I guess I am in the minority as far as Starbucks....I think its nasty coffee...I prefer 7-11 brand type that is smoother and less acidic. So I will not miss Starbucks if they don't have it. Seattle's Best will be just fine. I do remember seeing... or think I saw a starbucks on Allure and knew it wasn't covered in any drink package. I did not want to buy the extra drink package and then be unable to use it at the coffee shop kiosk on the Enchantment in May.

  14. We were told back on Independence in 2013, that Royal Caribbean no longer contracts w/ Starbucks. Since that time, the Starbucks cups have been replaced w/ blank cups.

Personally, if you're planning on drinking only a cup or two of specialty coffee a day, you're better paying as you go. Also, if it doesn't suit your tastes, you know you haven't paid for that package for the entire cruise.

    Good advice thanks guys

  15. So I get you're trying to backhandedly call me stupid, but you just made my whole point: if a CEO starts making calls out of their asses, they get sacked, fast. No shareholder will allow their investment to go to hell in a hand basket.

NO not really ... sorry dude....was being a little snarky....My apologies... I was just illustrating that CEOs are not Gods and don't always get it.
