  1. Think it would be much easier if you just booked a Cruise on Britannia then :):)

Absolutely. I was so pleased to see that this new ship had a crows nest and will definitely be going on this one. I just like everything about Azura except it doesn't have a crows nest. I don't suppose Venture has one either.

  2. It would seem from looking at the most recent Deck plans that the only real change in the venues onboard, will be Seventeen being renamed to Epicurean.

I've also noticed that the evening Verona (lido) product, changing from Trattoria to the Beach House. I wonder if this will result in a refurbishment of the lido restaurants in line with Aurora and Britannia.

There is no doubt the Union flag will be applied as is happening to the rest of the fleet. I believe Oceana had been having the new livery applied over the course of it's Winter sailings. Azura hasn't as this clearly will be done in dry dock. I would also imagine new mattresses throughout and, new carpets in public areas. There is clearly going to be no addition of the Limelight Club, Market Cafe or Cookery Club, which is a shame as they look fantastic on Britannia.

I think the dry dock lasts for around 10 days, so not as long as that of Aurora, which suggests more minor refurbishment, along with the compulsory inspections of the hull and servicing of the pods!

I would love Azura to have a crows nest put in place of the gymnasium. Much rather sit and admire the view instead of pounding those machines.

  3. On the US side of the pond, most one way trans atlantics for the rest of the year, have been reduced pp. This weekend, Cunard reduced the single supplement fare to an average of 20 to 30%, sometimes with obc and other incentives, on the opening price of insides. Discount varies with other grades. This deal was suppose to expire on the 27th, but is still there this morning with no mention of when the deal expires. My experience is that it will be pulled when Cunard reaches a certain level of bookings and is usually available for a very short time. My experience is also that once you are aware of a "deal" your travel agent or direct with Cunard will give it to you. I booked two sailings with my travel agent yesterday. Also used Cunard Air for one way flight from JFK to Heathrow for just under $340 for 11/12 sailing. Air fare not available yet for 5/3/15 sailing.

Hi Keuka Lake Sailor. Can I ask you if dropping the single supplement by any cruise line is a regular thing in the US? (Am assuming that you're from the US so forgive me if I've made a mistake.) I'm gradually becoming aware of the fact that we don't seem to get such good deals on the European side of the pond and I've rarely ever seen single supplements being dropped. Would appreciate your reply.

Thanks Pennbank. Good to know about size differences. 2008 looks like the biggest one. Are they the same on QV?

  5.

    Capn

Their are 8 Outside with full length windows and 1 inside (were there was not a window in the casino)

On QE they were numbered even only 2002 to 2018 with 2012 being the non window one)

Pic of one of the outside

Thank you so much for the picture. These cabins look really good and love the size of the window. This is a picture of a single cabin isn't it?

  6. You're right. I've just compared a standard obstructed view cabin with the single cabins and there's not much difference in price but the standard cabin is more central so better placed and there's a lot more room. This is ridiculous and thanks for pointing it out.

  7. If you look through the website at future Victoria cruises, unlike Elizabeth there are no Club Balcony cabins, so it definitely backs up rumours the Chart Room has survived the refit :)

Does anyone know if the Queen Victoria now has single cabins after her recent refit?

  8. Hi Pepperrn

Just got back from first cruise on QM2 and although we didn't get table 306 as requested, we did get a very nice table a bit further along. Table 306 seemed to be reserved for disabled guests which makes sense. What a fabulous, fabulous ship! Had rough seas for 3 days crossing the Atlantic but QM2 hardly moved at all, even at the front. Hopefully this will be the first of many trips on this ship. :D

  9. Hi Sandra Smudger,

    In this set here:

There are three photos of table 306 taken on Saturday 21st June '14.

There was no difference in vibration levels between Decks 2 or 3 in the Britannia Restaurant that I could tell. Almost all over there was a very gentle... well "vibration" is too strong a word. Unless I concentrated, I could barely feel it. Certainly nothing to spoil breakfast, lunch or dinner!

    Hope the photos help.

    Bon Voyage! :)

It certainly does and great photography! Thanks also for investigating the vibration issue. I think the slight rumbling sensation was probably the engines so there would be trouble if you couldn't feel that. Very much looking forward to our first cruise on QM2 and I trust you had a great time too.

  10. My pleasure.

I'll be dining in the evening on the upper level, and having breakfast and at least one lunch on the lower level of the Britannia Restaurant, so plenty of chances to make comparisons :) .

Only six full days to go... :) :) :)

Hi Pepperrn. How was your trip of QM2? Did you manage to get a look at table 306 on the upper deck of Britannia? Just wondered. No problem if you didn't.

  11. My pleasure, and glad you liked the photos.

No, I've not noticed any difference between upper and lower levels when it comes to vibration. And I've been on both levels many times over the years.

When are you boarding? If it is after June 20th-24th (when I'm next on board) I will check for you (really concentrate to see if I can feel any difference) and report back here.

Thank you again for the compliment :) .

I've just requested table 306. Would you be really kind and check this out for me when you go on board (very soon)? I don't want to be hemmed in by lots of people and I think this one has quite a bit of space round it. It's also on the upper floor so I hope there's no vibration. Many thanks and bon voyage.

  12. My pleasure, and glad you liked the photos.

We're not due to travel until August so it would be great if you could check. Not a problem if you can't.

  13. Our table number from May 2014 sailing (lower deck) is also consistent with the table-seating map.

It can feel very congested in Britannia on the QM2. We have often requested the upper deck and found this less so.

    Have a wonderful sailing!

Firstly, thank you to pepperrn for replying to my earlier questions and great photos by the way! I've heard that on the upper deck in the Britannia you can feel quite a bit of vibration from the ship to the extent that some people have asked to move to the lower deck. Have you not found this?

  14. I'm due to travel soon on QM2 for the first time and wonder if this table layout is still the same now - 2014? I hate to be hemmed in and this might help me get a table that has some space around it. Thank you to the person who put this information on cruise critic. It's very helpful.]

  15. Can anyone confirm for me that the table numbers depicted in the below map of the Britannia Restaurant are correct?

I'm particularly interested in the area between the stairs and the tapestry on deck 2. But if you've been at other tables and the numbers on the map are correct, that would be good to know as well, thanks.
