  1. So glad you have shared comments and pictures from your experience.  We enjoyed our Panama Canal voyage on Holland last year.  We are on the vision in January and i had hoped the food would be very good but guess i better lower my expectations based on some of the experiences noted on this board.  I know food is not all that you go for but on this trip it wasn’t so many great ports that were included and we were going to chill out and enjoy the dining and a few shows......again, thanks for the comments or tips you have given

  2. After on-line check in my paperwork says arrival time 11:30-12:00.  Thought i had read that no rooms ready till about 1:00.  We will have a few things with us I prefer to not check in with other luggage like 2 cpap machines and bag with meds.  Can anyone offer a few thoughts about where you stay if room not ready.....are the dining options already overwhelmed with people ......just need tips on what we should do or if it is better to wait until 1:00 to even try to get checked in.  We will be going out of New Orleans for the first time and I am not sure how long it takes to get parked and processed at that port.  We have made decision to try to get parked in attached port parking area if we can locate a space.   Any thoughts or tips appreciated.

  3. Ok thanks......I guess we have been lucky and on last princess and holland cruise as they had received some major updating with interiors (carpets, linens, dining chairs, deck chairs). because we had also sailed them before drydock so we knew what they looked like before drydock.     but it doesnt matter because i plan to have a good time and am confident their routine maint will help it look fine.  Thanks for all the pictures and comments

  4. I had hoped drydock on ship her age was going to include upholstery and linens but guess that was wishful thinking.  We are scheduled on deck 8 so hope that issue with the leaks got fixed and rooms cleaned back up good.  We have sailed holland and princess several times and we like mid size ships rather than larger ones and dont need all the bells and whistles at our age.  We had chance at this one leaving from port we can drive to and i had hoped it would be fresh and clean after dry dock but maybe that was wishful thinking...........thanks for update

  5. Enjoying pictures of different things you see and run across .....been thinking about the outlets as most cabins dont have many......we have a cpap so hope there are some near bed as well.....appreciate the updates to familiarize our group with the ship a bit prior to getting on.  We have been on holland and princess but upcoming cruise on vision will be first on RC

  6. Thank you so much for the pictures and updates.  We hope to see and hear more.  We are going to be on Vision Jan 5 out of New Orleans.  We have been on several Princess and Holland trips but have not sailed Royal C before and have been appreciative for all your posts. Thanks again for pictures of any sights around ship as we are also attempting to acclamate a few other senior citizens who will be with us on upcoming trip......some who have never cruised at all .........so your pictures and general comments will help them to get a feel of things.  We did Panama Canal back in Dec on Holland and loved it so we hope you have a great trip.

  7. Anyone on Vision or been on Vision since drydock that could give us pictures of ship......we have never been on Royal Caribbean nor Vision and would love some idea of what ship looks like.  Yes I know I will eventually see it but we are helping some senior citizens get ready for their first cruise and were hoping for some pictures of cabins or public spaces since dry dock......thanks to anyone who can help........

  8. Hope someone who is on Vision of Seas after drydock in a week or so will post some comments and pictures.  We have never been on Royal Carribean and looking forward to a Jan cruise out of New Orleans.   Thanks ahead for anyone who could give any update or menus of any equivalent ship.  Helping a few senior citizens get their thoughts and plans together.

  9. Cruise lines vary like hotels as they can all have some good and bad ships.  Overall we have found RC to be above NCL but that also is strictly an opinion.  If your friend cruised others like princess or holland or celebrity and carnival she would have a more varied view of them as some do food slightly better and some do entertainment better and some have more busy activities and others do relaxation better.  But I would not put NCL at the top of the bunch.

  10. As a mother of 3 and grandparent of 6 we have been fortunate to be on 9 cruises through the years with kids and grandkids all ages.........that said I now have these thoughts.  Taking kids that young is hard and you will not fully enjoy your trip so just count on that ahead.  I know it is your child and you might say you have no choice or that you really want your child with you (all very good answers) but please understand the ordeal can be exhausting with a baby.  Moving along......please honor above requests about not doing anything to shut down the pool.....because they will do it in a heart beat if they think someone has used the pool......and you will definitely become the well known disliked passenger on board so just dont chance it.  Also, it is hard to bathe babies In most cruise ship bathrooms unless you have a suite.  Space is hard to navigate so think ahead about a product to help with that and the fact that you can only carry so much on and off ship and through any airports.  Also, again from experience, crying babies in dining rooms does not win you any passenger awards so please take the baby out if they become fretful.  We all understand babies and love them but people pay a lot for cruises and dont care for crying babies when they are trying to eat a relaxing meal.   So have a great time but just be prepared for above type situations,
