Upgrade from non Haven suite to Haven suite?

Recommended Posts

I'm currently booked in a 2 bedroom suite, but would much prefer a 2 bedroom Haven suite. I can check what the price difference would be, but I'm wondering if that is the price to upgrade? Or is it ever less than the actual price difference of booking to upgrade? The cruise is 4 months out, and all regular 2 bedrooms are sold out, but there are 3 of the Haven 2 bedrooms left. I know the rooms are the same, but I'll be traveling with an 8 year old with autism, and I'm thinking that the Haven might be a nice place for him to hang out, instead of the craziness of the main areas. I'm going to call my TA tomorrow, but thought maybe someone here would know. Thanks much in advance!

We upgraded from an aft suite to the Haven Owners Suite and while we did get a break it wasn't jaw dropping.

Good Luck:)

Does your son have difficulty with crowds or noise? If so, I would highly recommend this if it's in your budget. I work at a school where one of the classes there are 8 autistic students and two of them are very sensitive to noise. This is a nice tranquil place that I'm sure he would love.

Yes, he can be overwhelmed with too much stimuli. The difference is a lot but the cruise is expensive anyway. Might be worth it to spend more and make it a great trip for everyone. His enjoyment is priceless! Thanks so much for your feedback. I'm swayed toward just going for it.

Thanks! It sounds like at least it's worth a try. Every little bit!

There is a thread here started last weekend by a mom with an autistic child traveling in the Haven. There were a lot of suggestions , it did get a little weird at the end. It was started by member Luv2sleep.

We have had a few noisy experiences, but NOTHING like being on the main pool deck.

Hi. I travelled on the Breakaway with my 14 year old autistic son last November We were in a regular balcony room, but if I could have done a suite, I would have done it! It will make all the difference! A couple of things that I did that did make a huge difference. I emailed the special needs desk before my cruise. I got a name and a number to call before our cruise. The women gave me a phone number to call someone when we got to the pier. The man escorted us to the front of the lines at the port, and we got to board the ship first.

Once on board, we had a contact person for the whole cruise. We got our own life boat drill, after the regular one, that made the biggest difference!!!! We also got to go off the ship at ports away from the crowds. We would just call our contact person, and she told us where to go.

If you have any other questions, please ask me. I did end up having a great time.
