megr1125 Posted November 30, 2008 #1 Share Posted November 30, 2008 Here are the menus. Apparently, since they are tied to the ports somehow, you may experience these in a different order. Also, there was a Thanksgiving menu in addition to what would have normally been on the menu for that evening. Again, YMMV, but at least you can get an idea about the dinners! DAY ONE MENU-Dinner Appetizers: Smoked fish tapenade Vidalia onion Tart (I live for this! And I make it at home too!) Strawberry/Kiwi/Pineapple medley Tortilla Soup (this was a tomato based soup, teeny bit spicy-very good) Hot & Sour Shrimp Soup Chilled Watermelon gazpacho Cesar Salad Spinach Salad Entrees: Shrimp Ravioli Pan Fried Pork Medallions (tender) Prime Rib Grilled Mediterranean Quesadilla Aloo Gobi Methi Alternate entrees-available daily Atlantic salmon Atlantic Cod Chicken breast with Seasonal herbs Black Angus top sirloin Linguini with Marinara Sauce Dessert: Strawberry Pavlova (excellent) Chocolate Cherry Cake (sounds better than it was) Savarin Low Fat Blueberry/Peach Cobbler Sugar Free Chocolate Pot de Crème NIGHT 2-Formal Night Appetizers Orange Carpaccio Chilled Golden Pear Soup (love the chilled soups) Oxtail Broth Escargot Lobster Bisque Caesar Salad Shrimp Cocktail Entrees Eggplant Mozzarella Tower Sea Bass Roast Duck Wild Mushroom Linguini Alfredo Filet of Beef (slices of tenderloin, nice dish) Potato Curry Desserts Double Strawberry Cheesecake Grand Marnier Soufflé (best dessert ever) Cherries Jubilee (second best) Low fat strawberry cheesecake Sugar free coconut vanilla cake NIGHT 3 Appetizers Onion Focaccia with cream cheese spread Shrimp Ceviche Vegetable Samosa (little fried pillows with veggies, a little spicy) Cream of Cauliflower Soup Beef Consommé Royale Chilled Blueberry/Yogurt Soup Caesar salad Boston lettuce salad Entrees Pappardelle with fresh peas Thai-style shrimp Buttermilk fried chicken (on the bone) with chicken gravy Black Angus Sirloin Oscar (topped with crabmeat and béarnaise sauce) Vegetable Pad Thai Vegetable Madras Desserts Cappuccino Layer Cake Passion fruit Meringue Tart (YUMM!-3rd best dessert ever!) Coconut parfait Low fat summer berry pudding with fresh berries Sugar Free guava napoleon NIGHT 4 Appetizers Papaya, Lychee and Water Chestnut Salad with Kaffir lime syrup Smoked Salmon Carpaccio Breaded Mushrooms (would have been great if they were hot) Mulligatawny Soup Shellfish Saffron Consommé Chilled Orange and Banana Soup (very tasty) Caesar Salad Tomato Salad Entrees Baked Cheese Cannelloni Pan Seared Tilapia with potato leek gratin, corn niblets, snow peas and saffron beurre blanc Asian Duck with orange hoisin sauce, stir fried Chinese cabbage and rice Pan fried pork medallions with sour cream mashed and caramelized shallots (excellent-different than the pork served earlier) Wild mushroom and goat cheese pizza Moglai Cauliflower Desserts Pear Tart Bourdalou-rich almond crust with pears Chocolate banana strudel (not very good-the cake is very dry and the banana was very hard-most people who ordered this didn’t actually finish it) White chocolate cheesecake Low fat mango mousse Sugar free orange yogurt pudding NIGHT 5 Appetizers Exotic fruits with mojito jelly (nice fruit plate) Crab & Shrimp Salad Beef & Veal tortellacci Jalapeno and potato soup Chicken consommé (VERY salty!) Chilled cranberry/mango soup Caesar Salad Seasonal Salad Entrees Penne tarantina-with shrimp, mussels & scallops Cornmeal dusted tilapia Parmesan crusted turkey tenderloin Slow roasted beef shoulder filet (delicious) Asparagus & Brie tart Gobi Ki Sabzi Desserts Choca-Chino Trilogy (grand Marnier white chocolate mousse, chocolate/kahlua cheesecake and mud cake) BBB Brulee-banana/Bailey’s crème brulee (excellent) Magic mango parfait Low fat pineapple coconut cake (tasty, comes with ice cream too!) Low fat angel food cake Sugar free chocolate mint cake NIGHT 7 – Special Thanksgiving menu Cream of roasted butternut squash and apple soup (somehow, we forgot to order this, darn!) Roast turkey with all the trimmings (stuffing, mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, sweet potato, cranberry sauce-very nice!) Warm pumpkin pecan pudding (YUM! 4th best dessert ever, but not really pudding….kind of like bread pudding) Other Items: Pineapple cocktail (fruit salad) Green peppercorn pate Seafood pot pie Chicken consommé Chilled cherry and banana soup Forest Mushroom farfalle Southern honey glazed ham (very tasty) Autumn vegetable turnover Apple pie ala mode Sugar free berry melba NIGHT 8 – second formal Appetizers Sun ripened pineapple Citrus cured salmon Creamed wild mushrooms in puff pastry (tasty!) Excellent, one of the best entrees!) Lamb t-bone osso buco style Pan Fried Cauliflower cake Vegetable vindaloo Ivory chocolate fondue (more like white chocolate mousse….can’t figure this out!) Apple pie ala mode Dulce de leche cheesecake (NOT very good-not a cheesecake consistency) Low fat caramelized pina colada tart (this was very good!) Sugar free fruit pillow
alwalaska Posted December 1, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 1, 2008 Thank you so much. These are a bit different from what I had collected previously from people on other ships, so it is really nice to have the Explorer ones, even though the order may change and even the menus may change. Thanks again for all your help. :)

alwalaska Posted December 2, 2008 #7 Share Posted December 2, 2008 sure!!! my pleasure! i thought the menus were the same fleet wide, but knowing RC, anything can happen.!! some was great, some sounded great and some was icky....so i tried to point that out!:D I think the menus are close to the same fleet wide, but I have been trying to collect menus since they changed and I found Alaska cruises had some Alaskan seafood offerings that were slightly different than the other ships people had been on. I also had someone send me menus from a med cruise and there were some differences there as well. I think so they can buy in bulk, most things are standard, but there are some areas where regional tastes and/or prices call for changes. I know the med cruises do not have the lobster on their seafood platter since lobster there is not common or something.

lademps Posted April 27, 2010 #14 Share Posted April 27, 2010 Wondering if anyone has recently returned from 5 nt Bermuda and can post any of menus from MDR? Is there lobster any of the nights? Have read mixed reviews on that........and wasn't sure if it was even offered on 5-night? Can anyone post a recent cruise compass for EOS - Bermuda? Particularily interested in "sea day" activities. Thanks so much!!!
