*I didnt want to hijack PaulMedik's Cabana Roll Call thread

But after seeing the posts of people coming up to use your cabana shower, wanting to use your floatees, set their stuff down etc., For me, thats almost like someone wanting to come over to your cabin and use your balcony...you didnt pay for it, its not yours.

I'm just wondering if anyone has even posted another PRIVATE sign? Ever had an issue with someone getting upset because you asked them to not use your cabana amenities?

Just curious about the experiences.... :)

Well, there are certainly some stupid people out there who do not realize the cabanas are not part of the public facilities.

Just shoo them away like pesky flies :D!

Ever seen Summer Rental with John Candy? When all of those public beachgoes stroll on into his rental and use the bathroom, the phone, tv lol!

You know, some of the folks who came up to our cabana were simply unfamiliar with HMC. We pointed out the public showers just up the hill and they were fine. Another group (a HUGE family) went away, but didn't seem too happy. We ran into them later, cutting in line for the tender. Some people are just special....

Ok maybe a dumb question ... but, what cabanas???

do you mean ON or OFF the ship?? Are there cabanas on a ship that I have no clue of? LOL

The private cabanas that are offered off the ship as part of a Carnival excur$ion. Those like you'll find in Mahogany Bay or Half Moon Cay that can accommodate 2-4 people.

Cabanas are on Half Moon Cay (private island) that Carnival uses....

There are 15 small cabanas (huts) available to rent on Half Moon Cay. They are equipped with padded lounge chairs, showers, floaties, snorkles, masks, table and chairs and snack foods and some beverages. They have air conditioners, but when one whole side is open to the elements, I find it hard to call it "air conditioned". They rent for $199 for 4 people for the day.

We ended up having to get security as the group in front of our cabana got mad when we asked them to leave our stuff alone and decided to park a clamshell at the base of the stairs, effectively blocking a couple people in. I was out, taking pics of the kids in the water, so walked down to the rental hut and asked security to come and take care of it. Did not care for a confrontation.

Later that day we saw the same group descend like vultures on the cabana next door when the occupants "left". Turned out they had gone to get lunch. Security was called again and this time they made them move down the beach to a different location as I think they were afraid that everyone around us might riot if they reamained in our vicinity. They were pretty awful. We saw security remove a couple of the same people from the casino one night and also arguing with one of them about keeping kids out of the aft pool - "we paid the same as these people" was the standard line - um, no, not exactly - we paid for the cabana, and the kids get a cool club with ice cream parties, lol. they don't need the adult pool.

Sounds like the best answer is to not book a cabana and just horn in on someone else's. :D

Believe me, HMC is so nice, you don't need to improve it with a cabana or anything else.

The beach is perfect and there are lots of nice places to sit in the shade, up where the picnic tables are.

That may be true, but I still love my cabana. :D

lol!!! Special indeed! And a huge family at that!

I'm seriously thinking of just doing a quick MS Word sign printed "Private Cabana, No Entry" or something like that...

Perhaps because HMC is Carnival's "private" island, people are thinking the "Private" signs refer to that and not the fact that it is a rented cabana.

Better than "Private Cabana" would be a sign stating, "Reserved For [your name]. Please see the Shore Excursion desk for rental information."

There is a website somewhere that allows you to see how many ships are there on the day you are there but unfortunately I did not bookmark it. In any case we had a cabana on a day when only our ship was there so there were less people. We stayed in the yellow #12 cabana and had no problem with this. I read that it can be a problem though before booking it. I like the idea of telling them where the public shower is as was said above. Great way to handle it since many who may use the shower may not understand that the cabanas are private. That way you don't embarrass them. Very good!

I was thinking of making a big sign that says RESERVED.

I think I will also try and get a cabana further down the beach.
