Packing for rain

Aloha everyone, rain is always a possibility in the Hawaiian Islands but there appears to be a GOOD chance of rain if you are traveling in the next 10 days. I leave for the Big Island next week and my new rain boots arrive tomorrow. Just be prepared with rain poncho and whatever else you need so that you can still enjoy your cruise/vacation. For those of us who are fortunate to visit Hawaii often the excessive rain can be disappointing but for those who are visiting for the first time it can be daunting. So, I am hopeful that everyone will have wonderful trips, have backup plans, bring rain gear, and a good attitude. And for those on the east coast, remember it's not snowing!!!!!! Cherie

We were just there last week. Raincoats work great, but our shorts still got soaked. Wish we would have had a longer coat or a poncho. We had rented a car in Maui and Kauai. Drove the mountain and canyon. Rained both days. Still went to see what we could see. Don't be discouraged. It lighted up as the day went on and we hit the same stops on the way back just to see a little more of the view. Bring throw away shoes. We brought old sneakers and were SO glad we did. Returning the rental car the last day, the shoes were in the trash. They were so covered in mud and dirt as we had been to all the islands and did many hikes, tours, and overlooks.
