Cucina del Capitano

Anyone knows how to make reservations for the above on Carnival Magic ahead of a cruise? Found the place to submit requests for the steakhouse but couldn't for Cucina. Thanks in advance for the help.

You have to make that reservation while on board. It's pretty good but I don't think you'll have a problem getting a reservation.

We called the day we wanted to go and had no problem getting in. There were a lot of people there. It was pretty good and we enjoyed it.

Carnival Magic’s Cucina del Capitano

Cucina del Capitano, “The Captain’s Kitchen”, is a homage to Carnival’s rich Italian lineage. All of the Carnival captains are Italian and many Carnival ships, including the Carnival Magic are built in Italy.

Cucina del Capitano is a delicious dinner-time option with made-to-order Italian favorites in comfortable, relaxed surroundings. Guests can dine on hand-made pastas, risotto and fresh-from-the-oven Italian specialties, many served family style and complemented by a wine list specializing in Italian vintages. Many of the dishes and recipes were hand-selected by Carnival’s captains.

Framed archival photographs, many from the captains’ personal collections, table arrangements that invite conversation, wood-beam ceilings and ornate wrought ironwork recreate the ambiance of a cozy Italian home, while warm, attentive service makes diners feel like they are part of the family. Truly an unforgettable dining experience.

Cucina del Capitano is an alternative to eating in the Main Dining Room or the Lido Restaurant, open daily for dinner; hours .

There is a nominal fee per guest . The fee does not include any beverage that is normally ordered through the bar service such as beer, wine, liquor, soda and bottled water. The fee also applies to children.

You should have no trouble making same day reservations. We ate there several times. Once we walked in and had to wait about 15 minutes. The food is pretty good, the service is attentive and the atmosphere is nice. We really enjoyed the risotto balls. Meat balls as an appetizer were good as well. Pasta carbonara is offered as an entree but they will serve it as a side if you ask - not on the menu ;). They have a limited childrens menu for $5 but our son wouldn't let us get away with that since it didn't offer shrimp cocktail, which by the way were comparable to those of the Steak House. that sounds like something my family would very much enjoy--given that we are of Italian-American heritage...is this only offered on Magic?
