Norwegian Star Eastern Mediterranean Shore Excursions

Multigeneration family of 10 booked on 7 day Norwegian Star, June 4 sailing out of Venice. All family members very mobile. Ports are Dubrovnik, Kotor, Olympia, Athens & Split (Croatia). Which ports would you recommend hiring a private tour guide for shore excursions and if so, who do you recommend? Any information would much appreciated.

Personally, none of them, but it depends what you want to do.

In Kotor and Split you dock very close to the city centre, so unless you want to head off somewhere outside the city they are an easy walk. Dubrovnik is also easy to get to via shuttle bus or taxi.

Olympia and Athens are further away, and lots of people do get tours. There are trains to Athens, but it involves a bit of a walk. Olympia is a bit harder to get to by yourself (we hired a car). Taxis are also an option there though.

If you go to CC Boards you can scroll down to ports of call. Just select Europe and once you are in Europe type in the port in the search field to find your excursion reviews. I found a lot of great information through the years here along with Trip Advisor. My sailing Meet & greet is quiet but a few posters talked about excursions.

We're on the same cruise in April - booked private car/tours for Dubrovnik and Athens and NCL excursions for Kotor, Olympia, and Split!
