Sharing a soda card

Then pay your drinks individually. Soda card is not the only way to get a coke. Sorry but to me it´s not right to share it and I think of it as theft.

Almost forgot to answer your question: It doesn´t matter how strict they are, as it´s simply wrong to do it.

The soda card stamp is soley for the use of the person to who's sea pass it is affixed.

There is no sharing of soda cards.

Having said that, folks do it all the time.....which I personally do not agree with.....

$42 a week for the soda card....assuming you drink 4 soda's a day at $3.00 each - that would come out to $84 a week. Maybe the $42 isn't so bad after all? :rolleyes: Or for that matter - 3 soda's a day....would be $63.00 - still better off with the soda card right? If you are going to only drink 1 or 2 soda's a day.....maybe the soda card isn't the right choice for you....

this could be like pricing for car insurance and alike - everybody pays a big amount, but it covers the cost of those who cheat :confused:

If you do not drink enough soda to make a soda card worthwhile then do not purchase one. Purchase your sodas individually. Sharing a soda card is stealing.

You may come into problems with this in the dining room, but in the Windjammer it should be okay. If they ask to see your card, just get the one who the card is under to get the drink. Share it, or pour it into another glass and then that person keeps getting the refills.

You could use the big cup, and just pick up an extra glass and share it that way.

With all due respect - and I am not flaming you, people will do as they wish and "break the rules" in spite of what is written or posted.

Yes, cruising is expensive. It is also expensive for RCI to run a full ship for 7 days.

When all is said and done.....you forked out thousands of dollars to cruise, is $42 gonna break you?

No flames here - just my thoughts....

I presume RCL expects a certain portion of their guests to cheat and have added the loss from cheats to the cost of the card, so honest folks pay for the others.

I guess that all the other people never break the rules

and everyone drives the speed limit.

But of course be aware that if you do it. the cruise line might have to shut down for lack of money

I got a soda card on our last cruise. I never drink soda with dinner. Usually just water and wine. My partner did not get a card, but at dinner he always drinks soda. I showed my card to the waiter and asked if my partner could use it at dinner since I didn't and he brought him a coke every night without even batting an eye. At the pools and such, I would get one soda, and we would share it. Just like if I bought a soda at a restaurant and chose to share it with him. I never gave him my card to get a coke, unless he was getting a coke for me. I think this way of sharing is okay. I can choose to share my drinks with whoever I want. And long as we are only getting one at a time I think its okay. Enjoy!

Tell me that you never bought a coke and shared it with anyone else.

To the OP, I guess from a variety of opinions it is safe to say that you might be best not to announce that you are sharing your card if you are going that route.

In my opinion it´s very clearly a YES!

The deal is a Soda Card per person at a designated cost and this single person can have as much Coke as he / she wants.

It´s up to you to make the calculation if you drink enough to get a benefit out of the card.

If you don't drink that much Coke, you're better off (and more healthy) if you pay-as-you-go. You probably won't reach $42 anyway if you pay for cans individually, and you won't have to drink the watered-down fountain drinks.

Actually, I am not heated at all. As far as I know, you and I have never had a heated conversation before. And I do respect your opinion. We just agree to disagree. I would never go to a buffet and share with someone. That, IMO is different than a coke. But none the less, I understand your position and I respect it. And for that matter, even though I paid for the card, it was really for my partner anyway. I probably had a total of 3 or 4 cokes on the entire cruise. The rest had something mixed with them. My partner just tends to be cheap (if you tell him that you are in trouble:D ) and I knew that if he didn't buy one he would never drink his cokes. If you could only see my seapass card, you would notice that cokes were not really in the agenda for me that week.

Anyway, this is not heated and I will not argue with anyone about it. It is one of those situations that no one is ever right or wrong. Everyone is doing what is right for them. ;)

p.s. I have no idea what YMMV means?

Cruises are expensive -- that doesn't mean it's okay to steal the silverware or towels to recoup a little of your expense. Sharing a soda card is really the same thing.

Yeah RCI has to make a buck and I do agree that a those who break the rules normally cost those who follow them more money.

BUT lets think about this, really $6 a day for soda... good god! I'll be genrous and say it cost them appox 50-$1.00 to fill that cup and give it to me. They are making money hand over fist on a soda or soda cards. We've all heard that thing about it only costing McDonnalds 5cents to fill a soda cup.

I'm also tired of the "cruises cost money so this isn't a big expence" retort. Really I've heard this for anything from affording formal attire, getting pass ports, to the cost of soda. I feel like the people who keep up with this line up logic must be those who pay $1000+ pp, cause to me who pd $400 pp is thinking that extra $80 for the 5 days is just silly. I thought of sharing cause I know we can't drink even $40 worth of soda for the whole trip.

Yes crusing is expensive, but believe it or not I think people just want a fair deal. Paying $6 a day for a soda card is high, and I don't care if you want to "share" the sodas truth is even the most "shareing" couples would be hard pressed to drink away RCI's profits.
