Cruise Whisperer Posted September 10, 2009 #1 Share Posted September 10, 2009 Good Day Phone Texting This just to make sure we have communication if needed with the kids at home while we are on a western carribean cruise aboard the Liberty, has anyone had any luck with this and if so, did you have to talk to your cellular provider prior to sailing, any tips would be appreciated. Thanks
PattyG12 Posted September 10, 2009 #2 Share Posted September 10, 2009 I called AT&T. I believe it's .50 cents per text. My texts didn't go through alot of the time though. The incoming texts all dumped in when we got back to the US.
ccletzgo Posted September 10, 2009 #3 Share Posted September 10, 2009 verizon - .50 cents each text sent and .05 each text received. I wouldn't advise it as a way to communicate on board. Maybe two way radio would be better. But Please! be courteous toward others when using those..;)

Thanks We have used texting to keep track of the teens at home in the past. It worked well for quick reminders and staying informed. Sometimes service was a little sporatic. A few times I would try to send a text and eventually leave the cabin after waiting for it to send. But all in all we found it very useful. Our carrier is Sprint.
