MikeMoga Posted January 1, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 1, 2005 We are considering our first Silverseas cruise. This cruise is listed as having social ambassadors. Is this a detriment to the cruise?
Seas the Day Posted January 2, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 2, 2005 The social ambassadors are men that are relatively sociable, and they pay attention primarily to women who are traveling alone. In my experience, it's typically two widowers, about 60 years in age. If you don't want to talk to them... don't. Not a big deal.

luxlady Posted January 3, 2005 #4 Share Posted January 3, 2005 Where were these guys on our Dec 6 cruise! After dinner, our group of 8 women could have used a few turns around the floor in the piano bar. Geesh! I assume these "social ambassadors" are the same as the "dance hosts" found on other SS cruises. In fact, on a cruise a couple years ago with my hubby, we dined with one of the "hosts" and had a very delightful conversation about his experiences with "have tux, dance, will travel". Too bad. Our wonderful cruise director, Fernando, told us that for this cruise they did not engage the "hosts." Although, I must admit, Fernando took me for a whirl around the floor at the Captain's reception - just to keep the legs moving on the old gal, don't ya know...... glenda
