If you've got a few days, and you can get up to Cairns, I would recommend a 3, 4 or 7-day Coral Princess cruise. Have a look at their website - http://www.coralprincess.com.au.

 

The GBR is absolutely awesome! You may even be convinced to try scuba-diving; we did and we'll never go back to snorkelling.
