Star excursions

My husband and I did the Enigma Rally when we were on the Star a few weeks ago. At first we were disappointed, as we learned that the excursion had changed from a more competitive, "Amazing Race"ish kind of excursion to one that was more controlled. In this new format, the Jeeps (which are all automatics) proceed in a caravan to each stop, where participants learn about various elements of the city and then are questioned later for prizes. In the end, we were actually glad for the change (the reason for the change, we were told, is that some participants had taken the Jeeps and hadn't returned to the ship until right before it left Port at about 1am). The Jeeps allowed us to see and learn about Acapulco while driving ourselves around the city with the top down. It was definitely better for us than boarding one of those less exciting, air conditioned busses. For what we thought was a fair price we saw a tour of the city and got to see the cliff divers at night from a somewhat VIP location. We also were teamed up with two people for the tour, and wound up hanging out with them throughout the rest of the week. While we didn't have the competitive and edgier excursion we originally planned for, we still very much enjoyed the Enigma Rally and would recommend it.

The highlight of our trip was the Canopy Adventure in Puerto Vallarta. There'a a similiar tour, known as the Zipline Adventure, in Ixtapa, but from what we could tell, the PV one is better (many more traverses). You basically traverse from treetop to treetop, about 60 feet above ground. It's exhilerating, and completely safe. It's also extremely popular. It was sold out by the first day of the cruise. You'll want to sign up ahead of time if you're interested, to make sure you get on the tour...it was definitely worth it for us!!

In Zithautanuao we did the learn to SCUBA and loved it. The other more experienced divers said it is the best place to dive the whole trip. The water was 82 and we didn't even wear diving suits because it was so warm. They helped you learn and were there every step... we saw great fish and coral and got to relax on the beach for 2 hours after.
