Hot2Travel Posted September 13, 2009 #1 Share Posted September 13, 2009 Our cruise ship stops in Huatulco, Mexico and SanJuan del Sur, Nicaragua on our cruise to Panama Canal. :) Anyone have suggestions for sightseeing or touring these ports?
OCruisers Posted September 14, 2009 #2 Share Posted September 14, 2009 We'd also appreciate any and all info on these ports of call!
catl331 Posted September 14, 2009 #3 Share Posted September 14, 2009 Hualtulco was very pretty with 7 bays, I think. It was not the rainy season so all the trees and growth on the hillsides were brown. We took a ship excursion to take photos and see the bays, stopped for tequila at a hotel and gift shop and then went into Santa Cruz and walked around a plaza, visiting a church and then had shrimp tacos and beer at a little cafe. There was a beach at the port and quite a few jewelry shops for silver and a marina with various boats in it. Very quiet place but not as quiet as Chiapas which was our first stop in Mexico/Guatemala border.
Host Karen Posted September 14, 2009 #4 Share Posted September 14, 2009 For ideas for Huatulco, check out the Mexican Riviera port of call board too. Karen HostKaren@CruiseCritic.com
rubinstein2r Posted September 14, 2009 #5 Share Posted September 14, 2009 We are going to the same ports (Island Princess Christmas week). We'll probably do Huatulco on our own... it's a short stop and there appears enough within walking distance or a short cab ride. Nicaragua I understand we need a shore excursion but Princess has not yet published all the details. If you know of alternative shore excursions in the port, we might be interested. --My_AZ
katiepe Posted September 14, 2009 #6 Share Posted September 14, 2009 I dont know how to do a link:confused: but there is a great thread under Princess Cruises and search for the thread Tours to San Juan Del Sur. There are 5 pages of suggestions and information.
