The Westin Ft. Lauderdale is the renovated Sheraton Yankee Trader, which is an older hotel across the street from the beach (but has an elevated walkway to the beach so you don't have to cross A1A, a busy street). We stayed there when it was the Yankee Trader years ago. Great location just north of all the craziness of the "strip" in Ft. Lauderdale, as I recall. There are lots of reviews on Hotels.com---most people liked it, but thought the bathrooms were small and there were no solid doors separating the sleeping area from the bathroom. This was a problem for people who wanted complete privacy in the bathroom. There was also some construction noise---but the construction may have been completed by now. They don't have a luxurious pool area, but they have an elevated pool deck with water views. For $99, I think this would be an excellent buy. Not a full-fledged "resort", but a nice hotel.

Correct, it's not a brand new building, but it was gutted and completely rebuilt. The interiors are all new as are the windows with French balconies.
