slot tournament?

My husband and I leave this Sun for our 10th Carnival cruise (woo-hoo!) and are now platinum. One reward is a free entry into a slot tournament, but we are such casual players that we don't know anything about it. First, should we do it? (Of course is the correct answer?) and then give us some tips - how do we do it and not look stupid?

Each of you will get a free entry into either the slot tournament or the blackjack tournament.

Go to the cashiers cage in the casino and show them your Platinum card. They have a list of all of the Platinum guests on the ship. (It is also interesting to see how many Platinum members are on the ship). They will find your name on the list, you sign by your name, and they give you a card that is your free entry.

I usually give my card to DW to earn bonus points.

On our last cruise, they had a slot tournament on two different days. With my free card, she was able to enter the tournament on both days.

The tournament costs $20 to enter so that is a $40 value benefit that doesn't really cost Carnival anything.

Good Luck!!

Thanks, Scuba, but I really need to know how the tournament itself works. I usually play the slots slowly and maybe a total of $100 in a 7 day cruise for both of us! So will they give me complete instructions at the actual start of the tournament or feel that we know what to do? How exactly does it work? It seems to be well worth it to both of us, so we both plan to do it!

Slots tournaments are a lot of fun, and you don't have to be a serious player to enter. All you have to do is sit down, wait for your turn and then hit the "SPIN" button as often as you can in the allotted time. It's all luck of the draw. No skill is requred. The machine keeps a running tally of your points, and if your score is high enough, you move onto the finals. It's exciting. The Casino Host will give you better instructions than I can, but do try it at least once.

Loads of fun and silly all rolled up together. There will be qualifing rounds for a couple hours then the final round. Usually it's on the last sea day but will depend on your itin. I like to wait until the later rounds so I know how much is needed to qualify but it really is as someone else posted the luck of the draw.

After about 7 qualifying rounds, the top X players plus one wild card (you get a raffle ticket each time you try to qualify) will pick their machines and spin away. It is usually around 300 spins or something along those lines. Just keep hitting and yelling for the Triple 7s and Triple BONUS symbols!

I have one once and we had a roll call member win on our last cruise. $500 plus casino swag plus a Ship on a Stick that says Slot Champion! It's well worth it to try - especially since it will be a perk! Congrats on your new status!

Happy cruising!

It's hard NOT to look stupid when you're in a slot tourney! All you do is smack the max bet button and the spin button as FAST as you can! There is NO strategy at all involved...just need a little coordination and timing (and hopefully a machine ready to hit).

Dumb question, so your duration/# of spins has nothing to do with the $20 entry fee? Meaning, you start/stop when they tell you vs. when you lose all $20 for example?

If that's the case, sounds exciting!

Yeah, it's a set period of time, like 5 minutes (I can't remember exactly).

You do not put any money in... it is set for a certain number of spins and they egg you on to do it as fast as you can... You give up your card that is $20 (free for Plat.) and you get a machine. It seems the last time it was 100 spins but each ship seems to be a little different. Maybe others are timed and its as many spins as you can get. When we did it everyone was within 30 seconds of ending at the same time. The people are screaming, music is playing loud, fans are urging you on... every time you get a big spin they yell it out, women swoon, men scream, babies are born and you think you are betting $5000 a spin!!! Wow i got caught up in telling it!:D

You got it! And yes, it can be exciting. We had half our roll call whooping and hollering for our guy who ended up winning!:D
