hotel after cruise

We are cruising Oct 1 on the Destiny out of miami. We have the hyatt for the night prior to sailing but i am wondering on the post cruise. I always book the airfare for the next day just in case there is a problem with getting off the ship in time. What is everyone's suggestions for hotels after the cruise just for the one night? Close to airport so the next morning you can just get a taxi to airport? Or something else.

Personally I'd book something on South Beach - from the beach to shopping to restaurants, there's so much more to do there and you'll have most of the day and all evening to kill.

 

If you want something by the airport though the hotels in the "Blue Lagoon" area on the south side of the airport are the nicer/safer ones - they'll drop you at the airport terminal in the morning too. There isn't much to do out there though unless you take a taxi to Dolphin or International Mall.

I agree with staying in South Beach. I can't think of a single redeeming reason to stay by the airport even if you did have a 4AM flight.
