nitnyleo Posted January 3, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 3, 2005 I've read (somewhere) about a hike(s) through the park and how wonderful they are....one even gives you a boat ride back to Cruz Bay. I've been thru the USVI NPS site a half-dozen times and can't find any mention of them. I realize that the current NPS management is more intersted in searching out oil, cheap timber and indecent behavior...am I missing the link or is this simple enjoyment of the park only for those who have the whereforall to afford it? The Islander Posted January 3, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 3, 2005 Hello, Its listed at http://www.*****/stjohn/nationalpark/activities.php along with other NPS demonstrations. And on the Park Service web site at: http://www.nps.gov/viis/pphtml/activities.html Under Interpretive Programs. The hike you refer to is the Reef Bay Trail hike where the NP rangers lead you down and then you can pay the fee to have the boat pick you up at the beach at the end & take you back to Cruz Bay... I don't know that they have any other guided hikes. There are a few private businesses that lead guided hikes though. Otherwise you can do all of them on your own. --Islander *****
nitnyleo Posted January 5, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted January 5, 2005 I never thought "interpertive programs" was where it was hiding. (especially since they have a "hiking" tab) And its offered on a Thursday...and, I'm there on a Thursday!
