AIMS312 Posted January 6, 2005 #4 Share Posted January 6, 2005 We went to Yelapa on our HM. We booked through American Express Tours (have to find the web site), and went with a group on a two tiered boat. The city was so beautiful, rustic, and interseting. You have to climb up to see the waterfall. The fun really happened on the way back. The guides got everyone dancing and having a good time. If you want more info on who we went through, let me know. cali-croozer Posted January 10, 2005 #5 Share Posted January 10, 2005 We went a few years ago........booked an excursion right at the dock for $40pp on the Princess Yelapa. Included an expanded continental breakfast, a snorkeling stop at Los Arcos, equipment provided, a few hours at Yelapa, lunch and some drinks/music and dancing on the way back. In Yelapa, we rode horses to the waterfall for about $12 pp. The waterfall wasn't a big deal (we went in May, not sure if that mattered, or if we're just spoiled with huge waterfalls), but the horseback ride through the town was very neat (seeing people in their homes, the church and school, etc.). There were hardly any people on the beach, other than the people from our tour. I have read in the newspaper, recently, that Yelapa is starting to become more popular and that the town is getting amenities that they didn't have before (when we were there, there was no electricity, and the water line looked like a big rubber hose coming down from the hills). Some of the locals are excited about it, but others worry that their simple life style will soon be over. Anyway, enough about that. Have fun planning.
