ggator Posted September 21, 2009 #1 Share Posted September 21, 2009 We are 8 adults...50's to early 70's..going to Cozumel, Geogretown Gr Caymans and Montego Bay. We want to find the best spots for beach/all-inclusive trip, sting rays and snorkeling. We book with local guides rather than the ship's tours. Out of those 3 stops, which is the best for each of those activities? And do you have any local guide recommendatiosn? Thanks.
natnik99 Posted January 4, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 4, 2010 I have heard nothing but good things about the stingray trips in Grand Cayman. I wasn't planning on doing that, myself, but after reading the reviews I'm convinced! I've never been to Grand Cayman before so I'm not sure what to expect. I went to Cozumel last year and it was deemed too windy to get in the ocean. I booked a dolphin trip through Carnival (Dolphinarius) and it was pretty good but also pretty pricey. I have heard that the snorkeling in Cozumel is exceptional as well as the beaches. In regards to Jamaica I don't know much about it but I've heard from family members that it's more on the sketchy/unsafe side so I would really recommend going with a reputable tour (as I'm sure you will!) Have fun!

You might want to check out Nativeway's Rays, Reef, and Rum Point Tour in the Caymans. It makes for a nice day. No need for a tour for a beach in Cozumel. Research these boards, find the type of beach that you prefer and grab a cab. Paradise Beach is nice but it can get crowded. Playa Palancar is a $20 taxi ride but you can get away from the crowds. For a quite day you might want Nachi Cocum. Really nice resort and they only take 100 guest. You need to make reservations for this one. Jamaica is one place that you definately want a guided tour. Don't, I repeat, don't wander the streets alone. I'm 6', 210# and this is the only place that I've been to where I felt uncomfortable about security.
