seacruiser72 Posted September 22, 2009 #1 Share Posted September 22, 2009 Hi, I am aware of the $5.00 pp tip policy in spec restaurants but I read somewhere that it is EXPECTED for you to tip an additional $5.00 pp. Is this the rule or the exception? critterchick Posted September 22, 2009 #2 Share Posted September 22, 2009 I don't believe that the waitstaff expects any additional gratuity. If you feel that the service warrants more, tip what you think is appropriate. :)
Deckhawk Posted September 22, 2009 #3 Share Posted September 22, 2009 It's actually free to eat in the Speciality restaurants. At the end of the meal they provide you with a card that suggest a $5 tip. You can tip $0 or you can tip $200. Totally up to you.
JennAngel9 Posted September 24, 2009 #4 Share Posted September 24, 2009 As stated above, you are free to leave the restaurants without paying anything... but we generally tipped 2-3x the recommended amount per person, because we felt that they deserved the equivalent of what we would tip in a nice restaurant. anniecat Posted September 27, 2009 #5 Share Posted September 27, 2009 Do you need cash to tip, or can you put it on your room card, like in the bars?
Phxazzcruisers Posted September 27, 2009 #6 Share Posted September 27, 2009 You put the tip on your room account
fPetrarca Posted September 27, 2009 #7 Share Posted September 27, 2009 The staff doesn't "expect" any tip. The ship suggests $5. You can give whatever you want or nothing. It won't affect your service at all.
world~citizen Posted October 10, 2009 #8 Share Posted October 10, 2009 You will want to tip more rather than less.:)

Albert Ross Posted October 13, 2009 #10 Share Posted October 13, 2009 How do they differentiate between those who are dining in Aqualina and PrimeC on their 'complimentary' nights and those who are dining there because they wanted to....there is no difference if everyone pays $5 is there? There is really no such thing as a complimentary night either is there?
gosport11 Posted October 13, 2009 #11 Share Posted October 13, 2009 No there isnt a difference, its a thro back from when there was a $30 cover charge, except that the tip isnt compulsory, you can tip less or more than $5, so the 3/2 nites is a semi gurantee that you should be able to get in to the resturants :):):)

I guess they must have some record of who have booked their 'free but not free' nights and those that have not.
Susan-M Posted October 14, 2009 #13 Share Posted October 14, 2009 That is what I thought - it is a throw back to the old $20/$25 charges and the website has not been updated properly!!!! I'm not sure why you think that the Azamara website hasn't been updated properly, since it states, Guests who have booked a stateroom will receive two nights of complimentary specialty dining, and guests staying in a suite will receive three nights of complimentary specialty dining. Additional complimentary reservations will be accommodated on a space-available basis. Please note that all guests that dine in either specialty restaurant will be charged a recommended gratuity of $5 per guest per night. It appears correct to me in that there is no fee to dine, but you will receive a bill for the recommended gratuity (recommended but not compulsory that you pay it.)
