Danube River Christmas Market Cruise 12/13/2009

5 nights on the MS Amadeus Classic. Anyone have any experience with this trip?

This is a German cruise line that charters out many of its boats. Try posting on the River and Canal board. A wonderful poster named Steamboats lives in Germany and is a wealth of knowledge. We are going with this company on a trip next summer--it is a college alumni group set up by Geohagen out of Chicago. Pat

I just returned from a Viking River Cruise along the Danube from Nurenberg to Vienna. The cities were just setting up the stands across Germany & Austria with their Christmas Markets. They looked absolutely grand. I believe they opened after I left on the 15th. The river boats are absolutely beautiful compared to the larger cruise ships. More intimate service and the tours offered were great.

 

Enjoy and dress very warm in layers. It was cold and then hot when I was there.

 

The Danube is like a mirror but beware of the x's of locks along the river. Very interesting experience.
