Scott_F Posted September 24, 2009 #1 Share Posted September 24, 2009 Dance with your ladies. No matter how much you suck at it. I was re-reading my Conquest review from last month and I gotta tell ya, that was something that really stuck out. I suck at dancing. My wife lives for it. I have two choices, watch her dance with a group of people that she doesn't know or join in. I choose to join in. So, no matter what cruise you're on, there's a guy like me out there setting the bar rather low. All you have to do is go out there with a pulse and you'll be better than me. :) We saw these three couples on our last cruise. One couple had no interest in dancing, another couple was dancing their butts off, and the third couple was split. Girl was dancing in place next to her bar stool, guy refused to take part. She was working him hard. All this guy needs to do is go out there and dance a couple of songs and I can guarantee you he's going to have the time of his life later in the cabin. But, no, he refuses, they have words, girl just leaves and he follows her out. Dummy. Big dummy. But, hey, I guess he's too cool to dance in public. I almost lost my life and they were going to also amputate one of my legs last January. Trust me on this... no matter how badly I suck at dancing, I'm going to enjoy these two legs. So, gents, if your lady loves to dance, humor her a bit. Hell, drink a few beers or something before you get there. I can promise you, you'll likely reap many rewards later. You're on vacation dammit, act like it! ;) This public service message was brought to you by a guy that now loves to dance... badly.

pokergirl34 Posted September 24, 2009 #4 Share Posted September 24, 2009 That is really awesome that you dance with your wife. I only get dances at weddings, and one at that  but that's ok. We are rarely in venues where one dances anyway. We'll be in our cabin sleeping or "enjoying each others' company" ;) when the other cruisers are dancing in the clubs. louisvillebride Posted September 24, 2009 #5 Share Posted September 24, 2009 Thank you for this. I will be copying and pasting this to an email for my fiance. He HATES to dance. We are always that split couple. He actually joined me for TWO dances at a wedding last weekend. I was one happy gal!

Tbay-eh Posted September 24, 2009 #8 Share Posted September 24, 2009 My guy loves to dance and I know that I am lucky. Last time on the Liberty we were up on the Lido and there was some awesome music playing. We went to a little out of the way place and danced on the deck under stars with the water rushing by - oh my God we were in heaven. We are in our late 50's but you would never have known it by that evening - I still close my eyes and remember it. Guys, if you don't like to dance in public do it in private and she will be wrapped around your finger. My guy will hum and sometimes sing a song and we just go for it. kathyemma Posted September 24, 2009 #9 Share Posted September 24, 2009 But it won't get me to dance! I hate it. I have danced with my husband 3 times - once the month before our wedding - as a test - the other two times were at our wedding. He promised me I never have to do it again. But it works great for us - he loves to dance so whenever we go someplace that has dancing - he finds the girl who wants to dance but is with a guy who won't. He dances with her while her husband and I share a beer and watch them. Each of us thanking the other for loaning out their spouse. Everyone has a great time. And its not that i can't dance - I took dance lessons from the age of 4 thru 18 - I just do not enjoy it - not even a little bit. Kathy

Kathy I see where you are coming from - my brother in law hates to dance and will not now or ever -my husband will dance with her (his sister) and I will sit with him - then my husband will dance with me and she sits with him. It is like anything, if you don't enjoy it - don't do it and no explanation should or need be provided.

kdinkus1 Posted September 24, 2009 #15 Share Posted September 24, 2009 You women who can get your husbands to dance are so blessed! My DH doesn't believe in dancing (his religion prohibits dancing), so I live vicariously thru others.. I have to admit that most of the time it doesn't bother me. However, cruising is something different. I have spent many moments frustrated, angry, bitter, and crying but with no luck! He just can't bring himself to get past what he has been taught all those years. So now.. I have learned to not let it affect me as much. To walk on by and be thankful for the great man that he is in so many other ways! I'm looking forward to 'dancing' with him someday in Heaven when God gives him permission! :D
bumbles Posted September 24, 2009 #16 Share Posted September 24, 2009 Amen, Scott!! What a great attitude!! Life is too short to not share experiences with someone you love...even though you don't love the same things. Trust me...as a woman...even though my husband sucks at dancing...there is nothing so exciting to me as to see him throw away his inhibition and do something just because he knows I like to do it. bobsfamily Posted September 24, 2009 #19 Share Posted September 24, 2009 You women who can get your husbands to dance are so blessed! My DH doesn't believe in dancing (his religion prohibits dancing), so I live vicariously thru others.. I USED to belong to a religion like that... I am now a Presbyterian and happily dance badly with my wife. I've had 2 hips replaced and no longer use canes/wheelchairs and will gladly dance a bit... about 3 dances and I'm done for a hour or so and then at it again... unless we have left:D BTW when younger (much younger) the very same people that went to church on Sunday were buying liquor on Friday and dancing in the town next door.... and those people were dancing in our town:D

Rockportgirl Posted September 24, 2009 #21 Share Posted September 24, 2009 My husband is usually the one setting the bar really low for everyone else... lol. But he has a blast doing it. skippyy Posted September 24, 2009 #22 Share Posted September 24, 2009 Sick lad that I am, I always considered dancing as part of the mating ritual:eek: Yes, a form of foreplay.excellent for us ugly fellows (how many times have you seen attractive women dancing with us:))I've always enjoyed dancing and it's a bonus that it pleases my wife. Toward that end have taken classes in: foxtrott, waltz, swing and now enrolling in latin dances(hoping to learn a dirty salsa:D) Classmates are usually novices as well...go for it. Bye the way...great OP. Did I mention that on our last cruise, while dancing slow I felt hands roaming my buttocks:confused: Looked down and they were mine:eek: Have a great day
cf32521 Posted September 24, 2009 #23 Share Posted September 24, 2009 On our last cruise on the Fastacy our tablemates found out we had spent some time teaching dance back home (not professionals by any means) so they recruited another couple they had met who liked to dance and we spent some time one morning teaching them some moves on the deck near the casino. No music, but we had a great time and they tried out their new moves on the lido deck that night! Would do it again if anyone asked!
asylum575 Posted September 24, 2009 #24 Share Posted September 24, 2009 Ladies, I can get kicked out of the club for revealing this. When a guy is about 10, we all go away to this camp and are molded to become men by nonstop propaganda Here is a video that explains alot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVWHQqEyiLI
d-ray Posted September 24, 2009 #25 Share Posted September 24, 2009 My hubby says the only way he will get out on that dance floor is if the music moves him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you know how many times I have heard that?
