TrentS Posted September 30, 2009 #2 Share Posted September 30, 2009 Is it feasible to stay in south beach and cab to the POM and airport? Also what is the beast area: Ocean Drive or Collins Avenue Oceanfront? Absolutely feasible. Taxis are plentiful and not that expensive. South Beach to MIA is about 30 minutes. South Beach to Port of Miami is about 10-15 minutes. As for Ocean Drive or Collins, they're both great. Ocean Drive between 5th & 15th Street is the classic picture postcard view of the South Beach Art Deco architecture that you get. The hotels along there are mostly smaller boutique type hotels with sidewalk cafes. It's a wonderful place to be! The Collins Ave oceanfront hotels are just around the corner from 15th Street north. Be careful of some however that call themselves "South Beach" but are farther to the north and aren't near anything. Personally I don't care for anything north of about 20th/22nd Street as once you get north of there it's mostly condos, there aren't any shops, restaurants, and it gets too far to walk to the action.
