Our cruise began outside of Rome , Ischia, Amalfi ( although because of weather we

tendered in Sorrento), Florence (port of Livorno), Monaco and Nice - all great ports and easy to use buses . We went from Monaco to Nice (1 euro) and Nice to Grasse (1 euro)

All buses are only 1 Euro - best deal of the cruise!

You can catch the #100 bus to Nice and it makes all kinds of great stops or transfers along the way. We also took and transfered to bus #81 to get to Villa Rothchild.

We did the same thing with the buses when we were there this summer after our Nice RT on Windsurf for the Grand Prix- very easy. We also took the bus up to Eze from Monoco. 1 Euro, as you said!

Hi Patty,

We will be on the WindSurf for the Grand Prix 2010.

How easy is it to take the bus from Monaco to Eze during that weekend?

I would like to visit Eze on Friday before the races start on Saturday.

Thank you,

Molly23

Hi Molly,

You will have a great time! We loved the Grand Prix and the Film Festival (didn't see any films though!)

We took the bus to Eze on either Friday or Saturday and it was very easy. You just have to find the right corner to stand on! I am out of town right now on business and don"t have access to any of my trip notes. I know it was a ways up a hill above the park across from the Casino . We actually stopped at a touism office for directions which was very near that same park. They gave us the schedule and directions and from there it was easy. The buses aren't that frequent though, so we ended up taking a cab back to the boat. As I recall, the cab was around 50 euros for 4 people so the bus is really quite a bargain!

Enjoy your trip!

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi bl413 -- I'm glad to hear that you had a great cruise as we will be on the Windsurf in a couple of weeks, and it sounds like we won't be disappointed even though we hear about financial difficulties. And you went to some stellar ports! Our first port will be Ischia (sp?) Can you tell me something about what you did there? We're thinking of just spending the day wandering around. Did you take a ship's excursion?

I'm getting ready to pack as we actually will be on the Windstar next Saturday for a week before boarding the Windsurf in Barcelona. Do you have any packing suggestions? Or any other advice?

Make sure you go to the Castle - you can walk there from the port.

We also did a lot of walking - watch out for the Taxi's -they will try to overcharge you.

There are buses you can take.

We made the mistake of taking a cab. We went up the coast line about 15 minutes

for 30 euro!!!

We decided to walk back and happened upon a Thermal Spa & Hotel ( that I can't remember the name of.) But, you should try and find one. We walked around the port area and had a nice late lunch. It's a beautiful island. The ship's excursions are very expensive.

Have a wonderful time.
